Opened this POS up and foam got on my keyboard, my clothes, and on my desk. I am pissed off. The beer hasn’t been hardly moved for over a month and a half. It will lose three points on the "overall" for that stupidity--nothing needs to be that carbonated. If there were any volatiles I missed them due to me trying to clean up my keyboard. Pours a cloudy golden with a huge piece of crap white head, quickly fading. Aroma of Belgian yeasts, bananas, nondescript sweet fruits, pepper, and alcohol. Taste is much of the same. There is some hotness from the alcohol, which fits with the 9% ABV. Slightly bitter finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, very light carbonation (since all was lost from the mountain of foam). Would have been a pretty good beer except for the fact that I lost four ounces of it from the carbonation. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA

The color is an enchanting rustic yellow with a fair amount of sediment drenching the bottom and clinging to the sides of the glass. Frothy and dense head (It took turns) that laced better than well.
Spicy clove like aroma with some banana, yeast, nectarines and alcohol. Quite the odd combination.
Tastes good. Champagne like body. Peppery clove, spices and green melon. Very smooth and it represents itself very well in the mouth. Delicate throughout. DrnkMcDermott (1851), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 29, 2005 Updated: May 13, 2007Bottle, served in Duvel glass at Fresh Starts, Flossmoor, IL. Cloudy yellow, with a fluffy white head. First smell impression is of a bit of orange juice, then diluted honey. Beyond the usual candi sugar taste is something complex and hard to distinguish; a horsey bit, perhaps, and staled hops. As I go further down, it gets pretty heady. Picks up a bit of a wit note, too, leading to a white wine finish. The bottle was dated "best by 11-17-07," so I’m guessing it’s pretty young, and may have been different just a few months later. Very expertly poured by the bartender to leave most of the yeast in the bottle. A most excellent and intriguing brew. LinusStick (1846), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Pour was a hazy orange. Taste was tart and fruity with yeast backgrounds and heavy carbonation. Very refreshing, if not ordinary Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA

Same in the flavor, but some fruits are present. Nice smooth palate, but not a lot of lace. Nice tripel. CharlesDarwin (1846), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 20, 2005 Urine lemon yellow, slightly cloudy like too much protein in the stream. Topped with soapy clean white head. Very fine, champagne like carbonation. Aroma of strong estery lemons, hexane and a hint of rubber. Light floral fruitiness. Bright, fruity composure with some savory almost buttery biscuit and gravy in the background, mingle with hints of peppermint and algae. Very saccahrain and candy like. A little tartness, very sugary sweet finish, with lingering sweet malt and squeeze of lemon juice, mixed with diced thyme. Palate is cloying and a hint tart. A touch of cracked grain and light german wheatness. Sumptuous. thegreenrooster (1839), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 3, 2005 Pour is a bright but cloudy yellow with a huge white head. Aroma is very citrusy with notes of yeast. Flavor is very bready with lots of citrus and spice. Alcohol is hidden well. About as close to Duvel as a beer can get. Pours a cloudy straw hue with a decent two finger head. Smells spicy, peppery, yeasty. A tart, spicy citrusy taste is accompanied by a crisp, zesty carbonation. Finishes with a yeasty alcohol taste on the breath.
A most excellent brew. Sept 2004
