Complex aroma of pepper, celery salt, and yeast. Flavor is sweet with flavors of citrus and subtle spices. Nice smooth finish with the alcohol well hidden, unlike other tripels that have that dry rubbing alcohol flavor. A very easy tripel to drink, and perfect introduction to the style for anyone looking to broaden their palate. It is almost like an imperial wit. lithy (1800), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Aroma is very yeasty, spicy, bananas and cloves, biscuits. Taste is spicy again, yeasty breadiness, sweet with a nice light fruit note. JCB (1791), Durham, North Carolina, USA

But funny, I’ve never thought of this as a tripel at all; it still seems more like a Belgian strong of their usual variety, with tastes of darker fruits and esters coming through. True, the body is nicely light and lively, and there’s a crisp, easy-drinking finish here. More of a hybrid, then. But it remains a delightful brew. Palidor19 (1791), Brandon, Florida, USA

The flavor was crisp ith a noticeable arrangement of spice and yeas. A strong Alcohol content and mild fruits. pilsnerrogge (1791), Finspång, Sweden

Yeasty, slightly acidic, with a touch of toffee, aroma. The flavour reminds me of a way too strong Witbier. It gave me a heartburn! sunevdj (1785), Copenhagen OE, Denmark

Pours an unclear orange. Tastes nice and fruity. A bit like a heavy wheat beer. Hides the alcohol well. rudolf (1783), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 27, 2008 Part of the "I can’t believe I haven’t rated it yet" run. Hazy golden yellow, puffy white pillow of a head, nice lacing. Nose is lemon hay malt, unibroue yeasty fruity spice. Nothing particularly identifiable in terms of spices - a combo of cardamom, clove & coriander. The spice grows into vanilla & malt comes through again at the end. Flavor is lemon, hay malt, clove, cardamom, yeasty spice. More clove & lemon/fruit in the finish. Vaguely astringent as a result of the spice. Wonderful body - full yet spritzy.
