When I first opened it, I thought the bottle had been cellared in a centrifuge. It fizzed for at least five minutes before finally settling down enough for me to be able to pour into my snifter. It looks like a heavy carbonated apple juice, although the smell was much different. I picked up hints of citrus, grapefruit, pineapple and some earthiness. After letting it settle down, the first sip gave a nice impression of apples, pears, hay and other barnyard flavors. It may have been a little sweet at first but soon mellowed out with a nice full presence in the mouth. The aftertaste yielded the more spicy aspects of this - there was coriandar and pepper mixed in a honeysuckle-like finish. Overall, it was a great drink although I think I would have to be in the right mood to drink it again if only because of the gushing foamy head. WISEGUY572 (1246), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 20, 2002 A convincing almost-Belgian tripel. I like it better than the Allagash, for example, and possibly more than the real thing. Strong taste of yeast, but not too yeasty or bready. Lightly hopped. Deceptively easy to drink for a 9% ABV. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA

the alcohol content very well. Another

ALWAYS full of outragious flavor, complex with fruit and spices. There brews are almost always a good bet. durhambeer (1218), Durham, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 25, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours yellow with slightly bright amber tint. White head that fades disappointing quickly. Funky Unibroue yeast and lots of Belgian sugar. Orange and orange peel, but less lemon/apple/pear complexity than I hoped for. Some banana and clove. Overall, though more sweet than tart or sour. Finishes semi dry, but tasty. Lovely soft palate. I typically don’t dig Unibroue yeast flavors too much, but this is one of the better ones.
