Dry yeast-dominated flavour. Tasty, and not cloying like tripels often are to me. Lubiere (4548), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Cloves, bananas, alcohol, some apples and buvvle gum in the nose. beautiful taste of spices (coriander, cloves) with malts, alcohol, pleases the mouth. Mouthfeel /boyd is excellent, where the alcohol warmth blends with the spices. Ernest (4497), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 10, 2002 Updated: Nov 4, 2004Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy medium yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately yeasty (cobwebs), lightly hoppy (flowers, lemon), lightly malty (cookie, toasted grain), with notes of alcohol, banana, and clove. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Yeast dominates the aroma a bit too much, and it’s a little watery and alcoholic, and too sweet for the style, but overall it’s a nice Belgian strong golden. A bit too straightforward and color-by-numbers in the end. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 19, 2002 Updated: May 3, 2004Apr 02: 750 ml bottle. I have to say at the outset that this bottle was very flat. I mean, no carbonation at all, no bubbles, nada. So I was prepared for the worst, but happily it was semi-salvageable. Opaque amber/orange color reminds me of apple juice; nose, too, is fruit-like for the most part: lemony wit characteristics melding with apricot and apples. Nice, but not strong enough. Flavor & texture definitely hurt by the loss of spritz; it's intensely malty and sweet with virtually no hop character. Drunk at cellar temp, tolerable, but as it warmed it became quite cloying and viscous. The nice cider-like notes and faint herbal qualities I feel hallmark a special beer; unfortunately, my bottle was simply dead. A mixed review, then, but I will certainly try to find a good bottle someday; given the brewer's other works, it will probably be worth it. 7/3/5/2/11=2.8
May 04: Hazy spun gold, webs of yeast within, fully lasting creamy small head. Lovely yeasty apple-bread nose, thick hugely malty body has notes of apple, lemon chiffon cake, pepper... I had a seriously bad bottle of this initially, sorry it's taken me so long to re-rate. Wonderful stuff, loses just a bit at the finish but another top-notch effort from Sleeman, oops Unibroue still. motelpogo (4395), Plzen, Czech Republic

This is my third Unibrou and I was beginnig to think that this is a really crappy brewery, but this one is quite good but not as good as you canadian/american think. Creamy white excellent fully lasting head. Yellow colour. Very powerfull applehoppy aroma. But its much much too alcoholic. It doesnt taste that well. Very nice oily palate though. bhensonb (4342), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 16, 2007 Aroma of coriander, yeast, perhaps citrus. Hazy gold color with a minimal white head. Flavor of coriander and other spice; relatively dry. Substantial mouthfeel. Alternates between a hint of sweetness, definite spice and some hop bitterness. Hints of light stone fruit throughout. Very, very nice. In the end it is dry. heemer77 (4312), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 8, 2004 I thought that this was an excellent example of the style. Pours with a bright gold color and has slow bubbles. There is a large white head that turns to a small head with time. The aroma is peaches, oranges and ginger. After this warms up I also smell carrots. The taste is peaches and cinnamon. Has a spicy ginger finish. The carbonation is soft in the mouth. This is my favorite Unibroue.
