Banana, clove and just a touch of vanilla in the aroma. Also a must note, which only shows in the initial smell. Pours a lovely champagne-like golden. Flavor is bursting with fruit notes - but not much burn. Much smoother than most Tripels.

33 cl bottle, Fargo, ND, USA via Winnipeg. Can’t believe I hadn’t rated this yet. Slightly hazy pale golden colour, energetic carbonation culminating in a frothy uneven head. Citrus and bread aroma; smooth tight carbonation on the first sip with some sweet/alcohol dominating. Bread and earthiness, satisfying warming finish.

Yellow pour with suspended particulate. Potent and very flavorful. Dry finish with a defined hop flavor.

A: Cloudy yellow in color with a medium head that fades down to a ring around the edge with a pad on top. S: Lots of aroma here. Tons of malty yeasty sweetness, with bubble gum, clove, banana and tart apples leading the way. T: Very easy drinking brew for the ABV. Starts off with the nice yeasty sweetness that was apparent in the aroma. I taste candy sugar, lemon rind, and it finishes with the tartness of fresh green Granny Smith Apples. M: Medium bodied, yet light. Very smooth drinking beer.

it pours a clear pale gold producing a nice white head that was kind of bubbly and fell on the fast side. the body is a hazy gold with a lot of bubbles rising up on the sides of the glass. the aromas are pretty sharp with some citrus, almonds, white grapes and green apples. it is pretty fruity in the nose. it is medium bodied with a bitter yet sweet aftertaste. it is sweet on the tip of the tongue and some what fruity yet light. i taste some bitter fruits, sugar, unsweetened apple juice, and some light nuts. the aftertaste is dry and is short lived.

Bottle. Cloudy light amber with big head. Some lace. Very yeasty aroma, with some spice and banana and apple scent. Beautiful mouthfeel. This beer feels alive. Malt is sweet and fruity, with some spice, citrus, banana and apple flavours. Not a hoppy beer. 9% Alcohol is masked very well. Wonderfully complex and beautiful beer.

Bottle at fondue dinner. Pours a hazy gold with small off white head. Yeast and bread aroma mixes well on top of sweet spices. Yeast and grains dominate with light flavors of fruit at the end. A bit of alcohol presence as well. Refreshing and crisp.

Hazy yellow color with a rather big ivory-colored head that stays on for a while and leaves a nice lid of lacings. A fine-tuned smell, complex with every piece at its place. Some gentle clove-like spices mix with pleasant fruit aromas of mostly tangerines and lemon peel. The wheat and fragile malts provide a nice clean background. Quite a lot of phenols and some alcohol. When tripels showcase smells like this, they are really great. Clean, refreshing and complex. Well balanced. (As a note, you could almost feel the gas in the nose from the carbonation in this one). In the mouth, gentle spices (mostly cloves) and fruit esters of tangerine, pear and lemon peel lead the way to a nice semi-sharp malt and wheat character. It’s a kind of sweet taste, but the spices act as a good counterweight. Bread crumbs, grass and a mild taste of earthy yeast. The wheat gets a little more pronounced towards the end, resulting in that semi-tart taste sometimes noticeable in wheaty beers. The finish holds some notes of herbal alcohol, phenols, a gentle spicy hop bite and bitterness and lingering fruity notes. In general, a complex and well balanced taste. Moderate body, nice slick mouthfeel with a generous amount of lively carbonation. Tripels are probably my least favorite style of the high ABV Belgian styles, but I think I can go as far as saying that this is one of the best tripels I’ve ever had. Complex and balanced, yet with plenty of that Belgian edginess. This one is really easy to drink, but deserves to be sipped and savored at a gentle pace. Best Before 04-24-11 Pours a slightly hazy, golden orange color. One-finger head of loose white foam. Leaves a light frothy covering. Lacing is spotty and somewhat slick. Nice banana and citrus notes come on strong. Pears, apples, oranges and peaches. Nice spiced presence, also. Corriander and hints of clove. Very inviting belgian yeast profile. Slight presence of phenols. Light barnyard funk. This is the nose of an excellent Belgian Tripel. Sweet fruitiness opens this one. Apples, bananas and citrus flavors. This is quickly balanced by a nice smooth spiciness. Light pepper and cloves. Nice medium malt profile. Great belgian yeast presence. Very nicely balanced. As a Tripel should be, this is one smooth and creamy brew. Highly carbonated, with lots of tiny little bubbles. It feels so good in your mouth, you almost don’t want to swallow it. Just let it sit there, for a while, and enjoy it. Very tasty, smooth, and quite drinkable. It hides the 9%abv so well. I can’t even tell that it’s there. I’m betting that it will sneak up on you, though. Be careful with this one.
