Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Pours rich red with a fluffy white head. Strong aromas of stone fruits; the flavor is very well balanced, fairly sweet, with flavors of fruit and malt. Slight dryness when cold builds into a pleasant sweetness. Excellent.

Pours a hazy orange brown with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts with dry fruits. Flavors of caramel and roasted malts, with plum and raisins dry fruits. A dry sweet sour finish. A great and pleasant beer.

pretty spendy for a nice buzz, this beer is what many folk will call a real beer. I call it a real expensive way to get messed up at the expense of murdering you taste buds. This beer tastes fine at first but leaves a distinktly strange taste in your mouth. I would buy this beer again but not regularly due to price at $8 per bottle.

12 ounce bottle- pours orange/brown. Quite cloudy with a two finger head. Silky lacing. Nose- Spice, musty, caramel. Taste- strong house yeast character, thick caramel malt, candi sugar, plums and a touch of heat. Medium bodied but also spritzy cabonation which makes for a lively and entertaining brew. A classic from unibroue that still holds up.

Dark reddish brown more brown then red I guess, thick tan rocky head with great retention, sexy looking beer. The aroma is very complex; yeast, mild sourness, touch of alcohol, sweet berries that seem to turn into caramel and all this built on a wheat base, the sourness disappears and becomes sweet when beer warms. Sweet woody flavor with noticeable alcohol but this brew pulls it off, dark fruits and very wheaty, awesome Belgian brew. Medium bodied and bubbly in the mouth, yeast and wheat linger in the after taste. Tasty and drinkable, thank god this comes in a giant bottle so there’s a ton to enjoy, highly enjoyable beer, 17 thumbs up!!!"

Spice and some sweetness on the nose. Some Apples and Honey there as well. Dark reddish opaque see thru with some off white head. Like all Unibroue beers the carbonation and medium body mouthfeel are amazing and pure joy. Solid crisp finish! Flavor was solid but not mind blowing. Unibroue makes good beers and great beers... This is a good beer. Some spice up front with a apple fade at the end. The Unibroue yeast has a strong impact. Strong tartness upfront with a a surprising dry backbone that could be a bit more spicier

Bomber. Pours a dark amber. I had quite a lot of head on my first pour, but that might have been my fault. Aroma is sweet and spicy, perhaps a hint of hops. Taste is smooth, slightly bitter at first, but not much of an aftertaste. I would say fruity with spices, some alcohol can be detected, but it actually goes quite nice with the spice flavor. I paid $7.99 for a bomber.
