NDbeerdrinker (164), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Apr 9, 2009 Pours a reddish-brown with a thin white head. Aroma is dark fruits and also reminiscent of champagne. Taste is plums, cherries, malts. Papillon (172), Sudbury, Ontario, Canada Apr 9, 2009 Updated: Apr 11, 2009341 mL Bottle. Murky amber-copper body with a 1-finger off-white foamy head leaving good lace. The aroma is a bouquet of banana, melons, plums, raisins, figs, spices, and a little hint of cherry. This is a full-bodied beer that impresses me like a good Hefe: a full malty-fruity flavor with a rich finish of dark fruits and spices. Alcohol also expresses in the taste in a way that warms me up from inside. Easter weekend... what a time to rate this beer! This devilish decadence is ideal to pair up with Christmas dinner (or Easter dinner) after some fun and frolic in the wintery outdoors. mcox90 (618), Wilton, USA Apr 5, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy red amber color with a 1" foamy off white head and spotty lace. Nose is spice and dark fruit aromas. Palate is moderate bodied and tingly on the tongue. Flavor is coriander spice with belgian yeast, Also, flavors of dark fruit and sweet sugars. Very good. KornDogg (168), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 4, 2009 Def one of my favorites from Unibroue... my first love.... spicey, fruity... similar to other unibroues but still different.. love the candied flavor BillyMidnight (41), Alberta, Canada Apr 2, 2009 Ahh, oui. Maudite. First off, I have to say this is one of the most kickass labels I’ve ever seen on a bottle, rivaled only by the same brewery’s Trois Pistoles. The Champaign-style cork adds a sense of occasion to a unique, earthy brew. The complex aroma and spicy, dark-fruit flavour move me closer to my Canadian heritage, and drinking it makes me feel at one with the land, the trees, the rocks and the rivers. This is time travel in a bottle, a beer to be savoured in a log cabin at fireside, while the cold wind howls outside and the forest spirits survey their former hunting grounds, Vive Unibroue! lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Mar 26, 2009 Lightly off white head sits forever on top of a red-brown ruby body. Dark fruit aroma, some malt and a light alcohol and yeast spice. Taste is a smooth raisin, fig, plum fruitiness, sweet malt base, hidden alcohol. suchen (81), , Pennsylvania, USA Mar 19, 2009 Spring for a Gulden Draak. While the Maudite is good, it (to me) feels like a smoother, less-spectacular Gulden Draak. Thick white head on top of a dark woody-colored body which is awesome in Belgians. Warming alcohol with not much but yeasty and some malty flavors going on. Solid, but not remarkable. rcasta (472), El Salvador Mar 19, 2009 desde portland una que era parte de la caja surtida de 6. muy buena sin tanta fermentacion y sabor a frutas como las belgas. se dice un strong ale y definitivamente va mas en esa linea - sorprendio de buena
