Strykzone (1458), Wood River, Illinois, USA Nov 15, 2008 Pours a medium brown with an off white head of tiny bubbles. Aroma is nutmeg and yeast. Faint spices. Flavors are clove and spice. It is very earthy and has just a bit of fruit flavor. Pepper spice that zings the tongue. The zing builds as it warms. Moderate alcohol taste and warming. Another nice beer by Unibroue. basewars (144), Albany, New York, USA Nov 1, 2008 Bottle. Pours cloudy amber with white frothy head. Great retention. Aroma is of spice, yeast, and cherry. Flavor is malty. Mouth feel is a bit watery. jmm635 (249), Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 31, 2008 Simply amazing! Poured an amber color with a slightly orange hue. Lots of tiny bubbles exploding from the clear body. Head is made up of millions of bubbles, but has a smooth, creamy texture. Aroma is packed! Extremely well-balanced between sweet malts, caramel, citrus, and alcohol. Taste is very similar. This beer is very similar to a Belgian tripel, but balanced equally with a nice malty richness. Palate is lively and smooth, but has a bit of a short finish. Overall, a tremendous beer! To date, a top 5 in my opinion! m4rest88 (216), Beverly Hills, California, USA Oct 31, 2008 dark brown hue that is extremely murky. Small off white head that is mostly diminishing.
Aroma is of bread - 12 grain bread or whole wheat in particular, lots of yeast in the nose as well. Smells a little sour as well because of the strong citrus scent.
Boozy beginning to the taste, and its followed by a small sweet taste in the middle, almost like a fruit tart. Sweet and a little bitter on the finish.
Lively carbonation, with a light syrupy palate.
A very good beer! Unibroue once again does not disappoint. Vive les quebecois! C’est un biere qui est gout-bon!!
shawnm213 (882), South Bend, Indiana, USA Oct 29, 2008 hot potato! Hot potato! this is a good beer. looks mouth watering when it is poured. nice head. goes down smooth. super smooth! DasGrau (18), Topeka, Kansas, USA Oct 28, 2008 dark reddish color with a large head. It hits the spot with a plate of good garlic and red wine spagetti. A great beer. All the beers I have had from this maker have been good! gwolf (2), Mexico DF, Mexico does not count Oct 28, 2008 I cannot submit a complete rating on Maudite, as it has been over seven years I got it. But its clove-like taste and beautiful red color are still great memories I carry from my trip to Montreal. Probably my favorite beer ever! bdigital (585), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Oct 28, 2008 Bottle: Dark amber pour, foamy cream head with great retention...almost looks like a perfect espresso pour with a different hue. Immediately ripe strawberries and blackberries stand out with notes of pepper, spiced malts, raw cocoa and some bready malts apparent as well. Crisp, lively mouth feel...flavor has an abundance of sweet malts that are followed up by a dry, peppery taste that finishes on a sweet, woodsy berry note. Very good stuff!
