Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

MIrky, malty appearance with a thin head on pour. The bottle has a wine cork effect to allow for freshness of malts when drinking. The smell is pleasant but taste is similar to a lager. Overall, tasty and memorable.

Maudite pours a rich brown with a nice size head. The nose is fruity, spicy, and complex. Flavor is of dark fruit ,spice, light alcohol, and gets better as it gets to a cool and not cold temperature. The body is full with a nice effervescence. Great ale!!

Great Beer aye? Hazy Brown/Amber pour from bottle. ARoma was light and didn’t provide any clues to the flavor for me. Nice Creamy off-white head that lasted for a while and left nice lacing on the glass- Flavor was a bit dark fruity with some spice - woodsy outdoor in the flavor - mouthfeel is thick/carbonated - Awesome flavor - very complex - I originally rated this at 3.9 but changed it after the brew warmed I almost couldn’t stand the dark fruit flavor. - against the brewers recomendation you Need to keep this one cold!

Hazy brown-amber color. Fruity and spicy character. Mixture of oranges, apples, cloves, yeast, earth and dominant alcohol flavour. Aftertaste is acoholy fermented fruity taste with sour component. Champagne carbonated. Creamy body.

Crushed with Jakebra. Nice bouquet. Nothing wrong with this brew. Very nice color and flavor. Some cloviness and some fruitiness and some awesomeness.

Just picked up Neal Stephenson’s "Anathem"; figured I should get a big Belgian ale and start the next four months off properly. Pours dark, almost opaque amber into the wineglass. White foam with small, shiny bubbles. Classic strong Belgian aroma - part cider, part champagne, part Autumn leaf pile and musty monk cellar. Incredibly smooth - mouthfeel a little fizzy and oily, very intense smoky/woody high notes, amplified by the alcohol, without that big middle bitterness I generally associate with strong Belgians.
