ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 29, 2008 Copper pour with a creamy head, yeast proteins visible. Spicy citrus aroma (oranges), slightly floral. Nice spice component dominates the malt, notes of orange, cinnamon sugary. Finish is very sweet and sugary but soft and well balanced...perhaps a bit too sweet as it warms. BeerIndustry98 (14), , California, USA Aug 28, 2008 Deep dark brown in color and very cloudy. Nice head with tiny bubbles due to the secondary fermentation. Has a yeasty, raspberry aroma. Thick mouth feels as expected from appearance. Subtle bite and excellent tart taste with a moderate acidic finish. KyotoLefty (1371), Kyoto, Japan Aug 27, 2008 A very complex Belgian-style amber /brown ale. Apples, wheat, spices, lots of dark fruits, and rich, sweet malt. Nice balance of sour, sweet, and a touch of bitter. Rich and tasty. taalhiker (179), Dayton, Ohio, USA Aug 26, 2008 from 750ml bottle - need to find my notes from the Unibroue tasting at my local supermarket. Always a favorite at my house. AndyReynolds (280), Wilder, Kentucky, USA Aug 26, 2008 Poured a hazy orange with white head that dissipated quickly. Very malty aroma with hints of dark fruits and a little bit of citrus. Typical of Unibroue, it is over carbonated. The flavor was sweet and it went down really easy. ewestern (198), Ohio, USA Aug 25, 2008 Cloudy golden color with a carbonated fizzy tan head that dissipates quickly. Strong citrus malt aroma with a blandish citrus flavor with spices and tongue tickling carbonation. Sweet flavor and carbonation hang around after this medium bodied drink is finished. pintocb (508), Darsville, Georgia, USA Aug 21, 2008 Cloudy amber. I’ve had this before, but not in a long time. The aroma is almost like a cross between a good saison and a sour, very earthy. The flavor is bitter and sour all at the same time. I think this is the most complex beer that is in the normal Unibroue line. wyzzywyz22 (754), Wirral, Merseyside, England Aug 21, 2008 Bottle, Ale Cellar, Darlington. Seem to recall having this at Quinns years ago;
It didn’t make a lasting impression then and was similar on this occasion too. Poured a muddy orangey brown with a thin tan head. Spicy, yeasty,fruity aroma. Flavour slightly cloying with caramel, yeast and alcohol which overwhelms the spice. Something slightly clumsy and boozy about this which just isn’t that enjoyable. Won’t be seeking out again.
