riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Aug 7, 2008 Tap. Copper pour with a big head that ended up leaving me rather quickly. The aroma a mixture of darker fruity malts and lots of yeasty spice. Much of the same in the flavor. Dark fruits like cherries, dates, plums and the like, as well as lots of spicy yeast and a little alcohol. Light lingering yeast and fruit, but it seemed rather clean really. Pleasant stuff. UnholyBrewing (448), Melbourne(Mulgrave), Australia Aug 6, 2008 ...bottle from Cloudwine. DIdn’t expect this brew to be so good, and the label desigh was badass. Color was a cloudy coppery brown, with a small off-white head, that wasn’t lasting, but who cares. On the nose, it was pleasant fruit aromas like cherries, grapes, some apple, spices, and yeast. Mouthfeel was medium bodied, with nice complex, malty\yeasty\fruity flavors. Alcohol was well hidden, and almost non-existant. Strong yeasty finish, which I find a strong point in these types of beers, with lingering fruit flavors, and slight bitterness that make you want more. Impressive. maltdog (509), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Aug 4, 2008 750ml. The russet pour produces a tall ivory head of epic endurance. Complex nose seduces with garpe/plum/currant scnets, spice, apple, tobacco and leather, black pepper, peach and cherry, sumac seed and yarrow blossoms. Titillating flavor features maple sugar and lime zest, ripe pit fruits, rasins, sherry, and rust. Medium-light body is buttery and lively with a wet towel smack of spice, carbonation, and ethanol. A floral/perfumey finish slips smoothly into the peathy, smoky aftertaste. Complex, heady, exotic... wow! rustychiles (997), Mesa, Arizona, USA Aug 3, 2008 750ML bottle poured into Unibroue Tulip. Has a nice brown color with a large off white head. Aroma of rasins, sugars, spices and yeasts. Flavor is rasins, malt, fruits, yeasts, spices. Nice beer. Copper with nice head. Aroma of dried fruit and yeast. Flavor complex of fruity esters and malt. Alcohol and high carbonation. 944play (64), Santa Rosa, California, USA Jul 28, 2008 12oz into bordeaux glass. Fast building head. Lovely gingerbread and raisin aromas. Sweet yet refreshing. Light, complex fruity essences with a malty backbone that isn’t too heavy. Alcohol warms every facet of this brew. HalifaxNick (4), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada does not count Jul 27, 2008 Pours dark copper-brown into Chimay glass
Lovely aroma, malty and spicy.
Thick lasting head sticks around for the whole glass. Big Belgian taste Malty and peppery with lots of hops to hold up to the 8% alcohol. This is a must have for anyone who walks by one. blipp (1630), Newark, New Jersey, USA Jul 22, 2008 Bottle. Says best before March 2009, so I’m guessing it’s a few years old. Pours unclear orange/brown with a beige head. Sweet malt aroma, with fruit, caramel, yeast and nutmeg. Soft, medium body, quite a bit of carbonation. Flavor is again sweet. Ir has a lot going on but it’s very well balanced. Fruity, yeasty, and spicy. Notes of apple, peach, caramel, clove, chestnut, and floral hops. Short, dry finish, with a touch of yeast and a very slight bitterness. Very nice. Very drinkable and very tasty.
