Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

This "damned one" was amazing. strong in mouth, full in nouse and deep in eyes, the head is poor for this style [BSA], the finish is bitter and the after taste dry. GooOooOoooOod One for me! enjoy it with pat metheny back.

The pour was clear brown with some darker ruby swirling through. The head was off-white, fizzy initially but became somewhat creamy towards the end. Spots of lacing. The aroma was yeast, malt, licorice and light tart fruit. The flavor was yeast, juicy fruit gum, licorice and malt. The mouthfeel was thin to medium, an easy drinking beer that isn’t nearly as intimidating as the bottle would lead you to believe.

Served in a Unibroue glass, this was a fine beverage. It poured an orange/brownish color with a nice, thick head. The aroma was distinctly apricot. The taste was fantastic...rich, full-bodied, and sweet...again like a ripe apricot. It was also malty and slightly yeasty. These crazy Canadians can do no wrong.

Bottle. Dark brown caramel in color with a thick foamy, fizzy head. Flavor is caramel, sweet malt, and yeast. Has a strong carbonation. A pretty damn good Belgian Strong Ale, although I think I prefer the Trois Pistoles more.

Smells slightly of hops but not too strong. The red brown color resembles the taste. This beer tastes of a caramel pastry that is warm just out of the oven. Maudite is one of the few beers that has a bubbly reaction in your mouth that is similar to coca cola. This really is a decent beer.

bottle. Burnt orange with a lasting head and good amount of carbonation. Sweet light malt aroma and a matching sweet flavor and very smooth finish. Very drinkable and enjoyable for an above average beer. This wasn’t amazing but is great for any day of the year.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark copper/caramel color. Absolutely beautiful lacing; looks like diamonds fizzling towards the liquid gold beneath. Head sticks around for a decent amount of time. Dark fruits aroma, malty tastes and nicely balanced hops. Nice finish. Very enjoyable beer.
