mikey (336), farmington, Utah, USA Apr 30, 2008 Poured a hazy copper color with two finger of head that dissapeared rather quickly. The nose was strong with clove, corriander and cinnamon with a backbone of sweet toffee malts. The taste started spicey with clove, pineapple and ripe apricots. This beer also has a very prominent toffee malt profile that I found very pleasing. As it warmed alcohol became more noticable but didn’t affect the taste at all. Malt and pepper tones linger on in the finish. Extemely drinkable and an overall tasty brew. graham515 (420), Houston, Texas, USA Apr 29, 2008 Pours a deep ruby into the glass with small head. Aroma is sweet and yeasty. Taste is fruity with a big punch of warmth coming from the alcohol. Slightly sweet DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Apr 27, 2008 Pours a rusty/muddy brown with a medium off-white head. Belgian yeast aroma of slightly soured fruit. Kind of sharp tastes. Spicey and sour. Some dark fruit (plum, raisin) flavors. Finish is dry and lingers for a while. Not a favorite Unibroue. spud1987 (46), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Apr 27, 2008 Poured from a 750ml bottle. Cloudy dark amber color with off white head. Aroma is of belgian yeast, very bready. Also lots of sweetness in the aroma. Some sweetness of brown sugar and chocolate in the flavor with some fruits such as apple and pear. It lacks that extra something that the top belgian ales possess. Falls flat at the end. Bonne biere! Ljunkan (380), Karlstad, Sweden Apr 22, 2008 Updated: Dec 29, 200833 cl bottle from Systembolaget (beställningssortimentet). My first brew from Unibroue. I dont know why I had these high expectations but this was a dissapointment. Aroma is lightly of dried fruits and spices, a bit yeasty. Flavour is sweet of berries, dried fruit and burnt sugar with some burning alcohol. Not that kind on the palate. I really dont understand this... it is OK though, of course not the worst I had but there are a lot of better beers out there. IlanMan (816), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Apr 20, 2008 Pour is dark amber with short lasting head. Aroma is sweet with some dark fruit and a floral scent. Flavor is very well balanced with light malt, medium dark fruit, hints of chocolate, and some residual sweetness. Finish is smooth leaving a little alcoholic finish in the back of the throat. Real tasty brew. Would buy again. rds (224), USA Apr 20, 2008 A dark amber brew with a creamy head, with a complexity of flavors that rewards unhurried but repeated sampling. A real winner!
