Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Bottle, pours a nice amber/red color, plenty of yeast. Drinkable no doubt, alcoholic no doubt, a nice and tasty brew I would have preferred a bit more malts but still tasty.

Shared a 750ml bottle with General66 and Illini08. Thanks Bobby :). Poured a cloudy dark amber with a large head. Tons of banana aroma and flavor, with some citrus flavors as well. The somewhat bitter aftertaste (not comparable to IPA’s) was dry with the yeast lingering in my mouth. Pretty good beer, but I am still not used to the style.

This was really good. A little bit lighter flavor than Fin Du Monde, but tasty nonetheless.

Bella sorpresa, prima birra canadese

750 mL bottle. Pours amber colored with effervescence in the head and the body. Faint aroma of malt with even fainter hops in the background. Not much hops in the taste, but an excellent maltiness, with flavors of cinnamon and lemon. Mmm.

Pours a cloudy amber color with a sweet smell of fruit. Sweet malty flavor from beginning to end. Medium-bodied with a full flavor. The only downside was a little too much carbonation. I would definatley recommend to a friend.

The carbination killed this one for me. I love the style, but it was masked. Also, there was a rough aftertaste. A very good Belgian, but not stellar.

A deep cloudy amber/mahogany with some sediment. Vert mediocre head. Yeasty/fruity/sweet smell with a hint of the devils dust. Very rich taste with the perfect carbonation level. Medium/lighter body that warms the throat due to the alcohol level. WONDERFULL overall experience...Unibroue produces some gems!
