Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Had a 750 ml bottle and man was it good. The aroma is a favorite and the taste, especially at the end is smooth and fulfilling. I liked drinking it from a tumbler.

Nice and clean! Fruity smell, with a crazy appearance, its appearance looks like it should be almost clear but NO WAY! It’s taste is very complex with fruits and spices. Damn good belgian ale!

Dark amber pour with a nice head. Fruity and raisin aromas. Nice mouth feel typical of all Unibroues. I would drink this again.

From a 750 ml C&C bottle, this poured a hazy red-amber with large white head that settled quickly and left large lacing rings. Nose of fruit, caramel malts, and a hint of some spices I could not identify. Rich and smooth mouthfeel, and complex and interesting flavors with some banana showing at this point. Good rich finish. Nice brew.

75 cl bottle. Unclear amber/orange with a sprinkly & fluffy white head. Wheat, yeast & fruits in the aroma. Light pleasant spiced. A touch of alcohol - very well balanced overall. Creamy lacings. Well made foreign Belgium!

Bouteille brune de 331 ml. Nez d’alcool fruité. Robe ambrée légèrement trouble. Très douce en bouche, avec une intense saveur fruitée (abricot). Le sucre est également présent. Arrière-goût d’alcool avec une touche de houblon.

Cracked this baby open at 12:00 am to ring in the new year. Pours dark rich amber with a copious head typical of Belgian ale. Very defined- dark fruits malt and caramel all melding together to create one tastey brew. Reminds me of Leffe Blonde, but of a much higher caliber. Rich and satisfying- Happy New Year.
