tarjei (1741), Bryne, Norway Dec 8, 2007 75 cl bottle, from Ølkonsortiet in Aalborg.. Brown color, big off-white head. Malt, caramel, dark fruit and a bit citric. Balanced, but not very complex. Alldaydrinker (557), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA Dec 6, 2007 Poured into a trappist glass at 55F degrees. 12 oz bottle Pours a murky dark brown color with a medium tan frothy head. Nose is decent at first with sharp sourness but once settled mild spices and dark fruits. Initial taste is a tingling fizzy mouthfeel with sweet malts. Background of darkfruits and spices. Alcohol is well masked. Finishing with a mild bitterness and average palate duration. Found this one to be not so complex. Some lacing of the glass and good head retention. Very drinkable. guil0000 (99), New Brunswick, Canada Dec 3, 2007 Very nice looking orange brown color. smell is faliliar Unibroue yeast wich is quite unique and some dark fruit I found it tastes alot like les 3 pistoles but not quite as good RSRIZZO (1345), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Dec 1, 2007 Had this beer on 7/2/2007. Aroma is a sweet malt scent. Color is an orange/brown with very good carbonation a fizzy loose head. Taste is rich, malty and sweet. Starting with a full body it goes down with a fizzy yet creamy feel. Finish comes out of the fizz with a mellow sweet malt flavor that builds to a fruity yeast taste and ends with a gentle bitterness. Overall It has a nice Belgian taste with a nice rich body. Well balanced and very drinkable. alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Dec 1, 2007 Bottle; poured a copper color with large, frothy, off white head. Aroma was dominated by the familiar Unibroue yeast smell; also hints of fruit, dark fruit, and spice. Soft, almost creamy palate. Found the alcohol presence rather minimal. Flavor was a blend of fruit, spice, yeast and brown sugar. Slightly sweet overall. Flavor was good, but not exceptional. marcus (1826), Sacramento, California, USA Nov 26, 2007 This reddish-brown ale poured with no head, eliciting a sharp fruity aroma. When served at refrigerator temperature, there is a strong sweet cherry flavor with a cloying medicinal finish. At room temperature the spices become much more apparent. When warmed even more, the spices blend with the fruit flavor to produce a more mellow taste. But it’s pretty good at any temperature. BeerVirgin72 (778), Pataskala, Ohio, USA Nov 26, 2007 Had on tap at Brews. Poured a nice dark copper color. Sweet malty smell. I am quickly becoming a fan of Unibroue. They make some very drinkable and enjoyable beers and this was no different. Sweet and malty, with some cinnamon and figs... WickerBrew (312), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 26, 2007 Ok so I have never been a fan of Unibroue for whatever reason, and that may reflect what I think of this. Might be the style too, sweetness just isn’t my thing. Dark sweet and a little fruity, it looks cool in the snifter but the taste just doesnt seem to last long enough. Maybe its a little too thin, maybe too much carbonation?
