BigMilly8 (374), Holiday, Florida, USA Nov 4, 2007 From bottle : Pours a hazy light color, big white head with great lacing. Very carbonated, almost feels like a champagne. Spicey taste, with some malts. Some alcohol on the end. drfabulous (1212), Columbia, Missouri, USA Nov 3, 2007 Lovely, lovely, lovely. Come on. This brewery is great. A very nice Strong Ale that exceeds many American attempts. Sweet. Malty. Nice caramel. scanovajr (361), Stanford, California, USA Nov 2, 2007 Bottled. A cloudy amber beer with a white head. Aroma is yeasty and red fruits. Taste is also yeasty, toffee and very spicy. Very nice moutfeel, vinous and high carbonation. Alcoholic and spicy end fro2218 (466), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Nov 2, 2007 Dark redish brown with a rocky off white head. A lot of spice and sweetness yet very dry. Very good. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Nov 1, 2007 Damn tasty beer! From a small bottle--Poured a deep amber-brown-mahogany body with a creamy merangue off-whtie head. Big lacing. Spicy and chewy notes with a dry and balanced finish. Belgian yeast prevalent as well as a variety of spices. Great with chocolate and frut dishes. Complex and well-rounded. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Nov 1, 2007 Pours a translucent, reddish, root beer brown with a loose, frothy/creamy beige head that laces nicely. The nose is a forward Belgian yeast with notes of faint banana and light spice backed by a solid, malty, dark caramel note. The light-side of medium bodied, with creamy, tongue-coating effervescence, the mouthfeel finishes lightly astringent. Light alcohol on the exhale. The flavor follows the nose with spicy/fruity yeast and caramel with lesser notes of pear and apricot. A very tasty and "versatile" beer that would pair well with a lot of foods. RaphaelN (195), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Oct 31, 2007 Bottle from The Beer Store. I am surprised that I haven’t had this earlier since I’ve always had access to it nearby. Poured wooden-brown into a trappist glass. This beer is all about spice. Has the signature Unibroue smell and flavour. Medium-bodied, with strong amounts of cumin, coriander, loads of malt & yeast. Oddly enough, one of my non-beer appreciating friends said it was the worst she had tasted, and another who favours Steam Whistle said it tasted like hot dogs...
Craziness aside, this is a wonderful beer, and has become my third-favourite Unibroue beer. TampaBrew (715), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 30, 2007 Nice mdium brown color. Lighter and maltier than i expected ... but thats not a bad thing. Light fruity flavor. There’s a lot going on in there.
