Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

This was a good tasting beer. Was like an Octoberfest beer. Not too malty, medium dark. Serve in a frosty mug1

Dark brown with large white head. Tremendous zing and spice. Gingerbread aftertaste. Smooth once you get past the initial rush of alcohol

Spicy and fruity aroma. Huge off-white head that slowly reatreats. Murky, opaque light amber color. Definite yeast and fruit taste. The 8% ABV comes through a bit strong, but still a great tasting beer. 12 oz. bottle.

Dark brown colored, strongly cloudy appearance. Caramel and some spices in aroma, alcohol and licorice also here. Medium to full bodied. Flavor is also dominated by licorice, mild alcohol with some spices here. Sweet sugary caramel tone also here. Aftertaste lasts with warming alcohol.

750 ml, 341 ml, fût, bière épicé forte, effervesente, peut-être trop ? soyeuse, je l’apprécie plus maintenant qu’à sa sortie il y a 15 ans
