locust (10), Brampton, Ontario, Canada Aug 7, 2009 What can I say, I just tried this finally after heavily enjoying the Unibroue white beer (Blanche de Chambly) and the 8% Alcohol rating had me a little skeptical of it. Pours an incredibly rich and cloudy amber/red color, a sightly yellow head, and wonderful aromas of spice. Tastes like coriander and some sweet fruit in the background, slightly spicy, all around superb. I can’t tell you how surprised I am to be enjoying this as much as I am. Will be purchasing again ASAP. Can’t wait to try Trois Pistoles and Fin du Monde next. 4/5 Narnad (681), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Aug 6, 2009 Pours a red-brown, slightly on the dark side in color with a thick, creamy, off-white head that stays around for a great amount of time. Aroma consists of a light cinnamon, a decent amount of pilsner note, light yeast note, a mild spicy finish. Flavor has an apple, grape and caramel sweetness, light yeast bite, light orange peal spice, mild cinnamon notes, a very light dark fruit -plum/prune note and finishes with a very leafy spicy note. Density is much less than the normal Unibroue brew with almost no hint of alcohol but a very light feel. Overall the combination of light sweetness, higher spicy notes and a light palate make for a very good but different beer by Unibroue. maloderous (2), Rhode Island, USA does not count Aug 5, 2009 What’s Interesting about the Uinibroues is that the color of the label represents the flavor. Maudite tastes very "red" as Troid Pistoles tastes very "purple."
It’s good for getting a buzz on, and if you want to drink beer with the devil on it. That’s gotta stand for something. Kestral (191), Oslo, Norway Aug 3, 2009 Tap. Dark reddish brown, 5mm white head. Aroma is big on malt, yeast, coriander and other spices, slightly funky and acidic. Flavour is very malty, like a brune, quite a lot of spices here, and a herbal hop finish. Medium body, the carbonation was a bit too much on the sparkly side for me. Tasty brew. dimenhetfield (157), , Florida, USA Aug 1, 2009 Big and Heavy. Has a great aroma. Hints of bread and dried fruits. A very enjoyable beer. vtafro (452), , New Jersey, USA Jul 31, 2009 Bottle. Another solid beer. The abv just adds to the flavor and finish with a slight warming. Taste is otherwise distinct and complex . NIce beer. Bejaaamin (110), London, Ontario, Canada Jul 29, 2009 Deep bronzed red. Very sweet start, warm and hearty. Strong apricots, very drinkable. brithen (3), Ontario, Canada does not count Jul 21, 2009 Probably the best beer I’ve ever had. Had to leave a little wiggle room in case I’m wrong. I will definitely be seeking out other Unibroue offerings.
