Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Beautiful, mostly murky, caramel brown in color with a frothy, sudsy, 1/3" grey head that leaves nice lacing tracks in its wake. Aroma quickly catches my attention – Unibroue brand Fruity Pebbles, anise, nutmeg, orange peel, lemon zest and brown-sugared fried bananas. Loving it. Flavor leads in with golden raisins, fresh apple cider, cinnamon and chocolate confectionary powder. Invigorating spiciness of cloves and pepper. Some weizenbock properties, along with a copper kettle vibe curtailing the end of each sip. Lively, sparkling and effervescent indeed. Some tongue chafing and dry friction at the sides of the tongue in the finish to go along with a peppered lemon poppy seed aftertaste. Tasty.

A French girl named Maud got this for me. How cool is that? Anyway... this one tastes and smells like citrus. Other than an annoying head this was a nice Belgian.

Bottle. Pours reddish amber with soapy off-white head. The aroma is grassy hops, lemon zest, crackers. The flavor has lots of noble hops and lemon, along with some honey, wildflowers, and just a bit of caramel. The finish is dry with some alcohol.

75 cl.bottle with a 03-05-2005 drink by date. Has a hazy amber-orange color with a decent head. A peppery, spicey smell, medium bodied with a nice creamy mouthfeel. Taste is complex with sweets and spices; caramel, vanilla, cloves, black pepper, etc. A slight alcohol bitterness to finish reminds me of the brews potency. A nicely crafted brew that has aged well. (Sept 2004).

A dark orange appearance with a moderate head. The aroma is ginger and oranges and some other citrus fruits. A definite spice presence in the flavor but not overkill. I taste alot of apricot in this beer. The aftertaste is a bit sweet and the alcohol is well hidden. Pretty good stuff.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Hazy burnished amber, without a head. Slight orange and wheat aroma, with alcohol. Quite a medium sweet flavour, with wine and vodka. Reminds me of sangria for sure. A subtle, but balanced flavour, with a small burn to finish. Very pleasant, without being a showstopper.

bottle cloudy light brown, with a nice thick cratered head. aroma is interesting and hard to put my finger on. earthy pear aroma is the best i can come up with. strong alcohol taste is the first thing i notice, spicy is the next. malty buttered biscuit taste. finish is the best part of this. a little bitter a little malt and some odd alcohol taste that mixes together well.
