I like the compexity of strong ales and this seemed to just miss it. Citrus start with very present alcohol burn, malts in the middle were sugary and sweet. the taste just sort of stopped there BeerLimey (1873), California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 28, 2002 Another world class contribution from Unibroue. Reddish amber color, thick beige head of foam, tornado of carbonation. Apple-plum in the nose, pepper spice, coconut and faint mustiness. Slightly spritzy palate, grips at first then just slides its way through with ease. A sweet red apple fruitiness is the first note in the flavor blanaced by a mild spice mid-palate. Suggestions of pineapple juice and candy sugar arrive as the beer warms. marcus (1864), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 26, 2007 This reddish-brown ale poured with no head, eliciting a sharp fruity aroma. When served at refrigerator temperature, there is a strong sweet cherry flavor with a cloying medicinal finish. At room temperature the spices become much more apparent. When warmed even more, the spices blend with the fruit flavor to produce a more mellow taste. But it’s pretty good at any temperature. TheGrandMaster (1862), Auckland, New Zealand
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 24, 2008 Bottle (in NZ). A gusher, but finally poured with a hazy copper hue and a large foamy head. Plenty of alcohol on the nose, along with toffee and hints of tropical fruits. Fruity and yeasty, with warming malt on the palate, and an underlying spicyness. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 6, 2008 Pours a dark amber color with a medium off white head. Smells very sweet, like you’d expect from a Unibroue beer. Alot of candy sugar, Unibroue yeast, and sweet malts. The flavor is much the same. Has the typical Unibroue flavor. Pretty sweet on the palate, full bodied, very malty. Alot of dark fruit and sweet malts. The alcohol is there, but masked proficiently. Another good offering from these guys. iowaherkeye (1856), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 13, 2006 Updated: Nov 16, 200612oz bottle, best before 10/25/08. Pours a hazy dark gold with a large off-white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, candy sugar, bananas, cherries and sweet malts. There is also a light floral quality. Taste follows the aroma with the addition of some raisins and a slight vinous quality. Medium bodied, alcohol well hidden. Dry finish. Pretty fizzy, as my other Unibroue brews have been, but not overly so. Very good. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Oct 3, 2004 Poured a hazy golden orange with a thin but large belgian head. Nice retention throughout the entire session. Lacing was very inconsistant and conflicting. Some swallows it would stick wonderfully and some it would slip back into the beer.
Nice aroma on this brew. The nose was hit with spicy peppers, clove, malts, raisins, herbs and yeast. A pleasure to inhale.
Nice flavor as well. Very smooth and well balanced especially for being 8%. Nice flavors of lemon, orange, clove, yeast, coriander and peppers. Alcohol was very very well hidden and the warming effect in the mouth led to an excellent mouthfeel. The initial taste was excellent, the mid-palate was great but then on the finish this beer seemed to die on me, keeping it from a perfect 5 for taste.
Overall a very solid offering. Unibroue knows what the hell they are doing. DrnkMcDermott (1849), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA

Well, I’ve got a bottle cellared at home, but let’s take this for a little "taste drive," okay? I draw a bit of cherry from the nose of my teeny black taster cup. Hard to see the beer’s color, but there is a nice fizzy head on it. This has some really nice fruity esters to it. And it’s got a sweet malt base with, of course, few hops to speak of. Nice drinking all around; I’ll look forward to to opening some more.
