| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 14, 2006 2 years old bottle courtesy of Sasquatch911 (thanks Francois!), shared with ozujsko I’ve been looking for this one ever since I’ve first heard of Unibroue (long story). Poured a completely opaque brown colour. Thick and persistant white head. Very lively carbonation, to the point of fizzyness. The cap blew off the bottle with a very, very, loud pop. Luckily it didn’t hit ozujsko in the head. Only in the chest. Hm. Lovely fruity-malty-coriandery Belgian nose. Nice spicy and fruity taste. Some toffee, honey and some weak acidity. Man... this tastes more Belgian than some Belgians do. Not terribly impressed, maybe a bit lighter than I expected, but it’s an extremely pleasant beer, dangerously drinkable and most of all tasty beer. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 11, 2007 From a 750 ml. caged corked bottle, short blurb, serving suggestions and a best before date (04-12-09) on the back label, sampled in tulip glass. Yeast sediment is visible in the bottom of bottle.
Poured a hazy orangey amber with a one finger high beige head that dissipates into a thin lacing, minimal sticking, a good appearance.
Aromas of wheat bready malts, peppery spices, apples and tropical fruitiness, estery alcohol.
Active carbonation that helps firm up, crisp up the medium bodied mouthfeel, tastes of pepper, lively spices and clove, citrus rind and pineapple, caramel grainy maltiness, the alcohol is spicy and warming in the palate, the 8% ABV is barely noticeable, the hops provide an assertive dry spicy finish, some malt flavors briefly linger in the aftertaste, but otherwise, pretty clean.
One of the many top-notch Belgian style ales from Unibroue, balanced and delicious tasting, just well done.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 23, 2005 (on 33cl bottle) Light, hazy, hazelnut colored, with a small beige head. The, Unibroue usual vanilla-yeast, with some fresh apple-peel too. Somewhat foamy, malt mouth. A bit of a vauge finish, with nothing else but a warmth of alcohol. Nice, but not 96 point-nice. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 4, 2005 Pours a cloudy brown oragnish color with a thin off-white head. Phenolic aroma of pine, dusty yeast, spice, alcohol. Taste is mellow and refined with subtle Belgian fruits overlaid above the background of mild toffee sweetness. A bit of spicy yeast in the fiinish. Medium bodied with heavy, lush carbonation. An enjoyable beer, but not as satisfying as La Fin Du Monde or Trois Pistoles. Unibroue relies heavy on their yeast to define their beers, and this is no exception. Still, I wish I had their yeast strain. legion242 (1586), Richardson, Texas, USA
