Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Bottle - Deep red colort, one finger pink head. Aroma: Blackcurrant and flaxseed, some tomato there too and dare I say ginger too? Flavour: Big mouthfeel, malt & hop, shoe polish (not in a bad way) and sourness, wood and pine there too, very nice!

Draft at Croxley’s Ale House. Aroma of dark fruit, sugar, roasted malt, and some yeast. The flavor is quite similar with the dark fruit dominating. Sweet overall and good tasting.

hazy mahogany, spongy head, tight bubbles. dusty dry aroma of dried cherries and plum. warm fruit esters cover all parts of my mouth and include more cherry and plum, but also red delicious apple. toasted bread in the finish with warming yeast.

I found this one to be a little bit better than La Finde Du Monde, but still a great beer from this company, they just need to diversify.

Dark copper appearance. Spicy, fruity aroma with hints of cherry. Yeast and malt with some spiciness in the taste. Luscious, full-bodied mouthfeel. Smooth, mellow finish.

Bready with plums figs and dates this is a spicy well balanced beer that is much lighter than its 8% would attest to. Earthy tobacco and spice notes prodominate on the palate with a spicy finish.

One of my favorites from these guys so far. A nice citrusy, spicy beer for the summer. Very carbonated. Syrupy and sweet.

75 cL bottle, tulip glass, 50 degrees. Frothy, off-white head rapidly diminishes (on the first pour only for some reason...) and sits on a deep, hazy, red-orange body. Heavy cobweb and earthy yeast; citric (orange) hops; caramel and toasted wheat bread malt; corriander, ginger, apple and pear aromas round out the nose. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic flavor becomes a lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter finish. The flavors are a little cluped up to begin with but they sort themselves out in the finish. Medium body, velvety almost creamy texture has a late drying effect, and fizzy carbonation. The bottom line is: warming, spicey, a great beer to chill with.
