Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Lovely, lovely, lovely. Come on. This brewery is great. A very nice Strong Ale that exceeds many American attempts. Sweet. Malty. Nice caramel.

Bready with plums figs and dates this is a spicy well balanced beer that is much lighter than its 8% would attest to. Earthy tobacco and spice notes prodominate on the palate with a spicy finish.

75 cL bottle, tulip glass, 50 degrees. Frothy, off-white head rapidly diminishes (on the first pour only for some reason...) and sits on a deep, hazy, red-orange body. Heavy cobweb and earthy yeast; citric (orange) hops; caramel and toasted wheat bread malt; corriander, ginger, apple and pear aromas round out the nose. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic flavor becomes a lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter finish. The flavors are a little cluped up to begin with but they sort themselves out in the finish. Medium body, velvety almost creamy texture has a late drying effect, and fizzy carbonation. The bottom line is: warming, spicey, a great beer to chill with.

Much smaller head this time. Maybe not quite as luscious or exciting as the previous rating. Still nice and spicey and has a very smooth palate.
First rating 3.9 Awful looking murky brown-yellow colour with huge fine bubbled light-beige head that frothed up all over the place and made a real mess of my aunt’s expensive table cloth. Wonderful fresh aromatic, hoppy fruit, rasins, cider aple and some yeasty and faint sugar candy malty aromas. Medium bodied and very smooth on the mouth and tongue with softish malty, reasonably sweet and some bitter palate and medium almost soft drink-like finish but with a lingering alcoholic after kick. Surprising - I quite like it! (Rated 22/5/02; Dolomite Alps; Italia)

12oz best before 02-07-08: Malty aroma with some carmel and candi sugar. Poured a huge head with sticky lacing after it slowly fades. Dark copper color is almost brown. Flavor is sweet and malty at the same time. Unibroue yeast, candi sugar, with a carmel and vanillia finish. Smooth like the other Unibroue. A nice brew

Very drinkable beer. Orange and translusent. Large head that quickly dissapates. Fruity (banana) aroma, with yeast, clove, and alcohol. Sweet flavor. Maybe my favorite of the Unibroue line. Sweet finish. Good Beer.
