Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Deep amber color with a voluminous light tan head. Ton of fruit blended with orange zest, coriander and white pepper. Dry honey finish. that lingers. Warming and pleasant.

Bottled, May 2007, 3.7: Intense sweet aroma with raisin, prune and licorice wood. Brown color, beige head, fair lace. Sweet, prune, orange, raisin, light bitter. Cloying and warming. Complex and very flavorful but if you try to rate it objectively it must be said it’s also a little out of balance. Bottled, 4.1: Strong apple aroma. Hazy, dark amber/brown color, beige frothy/creamy head, good lace. Sweet, lots of complex fruits (apple, raisin, grapes), nicely hopped. More than medium full body.

Pours a pretty pellucid auburn with a nice sized head that remains till the end. Aroma is slightly spicy and citrusy. Flavor is sweet with fig and dark fruits. Alcohol is VERY well hidden. This is a good beglian strong with some traditional flavors and good alcohol esters.

Bottle. Part of large bottle three pack. Reddish amber color with medium reddish head. Aroma was as complex as you would expect with this group. Flavor was full with hops, and spices. Full body with long finish with medium alcohol bite. Good brew.

Bottled. A brown coloured beer with lots of candy sugar and fruity maltiness. There is some wine like alcohol in the nose and a typical Belgian taste.

Pours cloudy amber with aromas of malt, fruit, candi sugar, hops, and florals. Finishes malty-sweet and very strong, with overtones of plums, pears, and spices.
