Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

A nice strong Belgian style Brownish in color. Pours well in a snifter. Definite hints of spice and apricots. One of the best beers to come out of Canada in quite some time.

Very very smooth beer with forward caramel taste. Have not had many strong belgian ales, for me easist way to describe is a full bodied ale a tad lighter than a brown ale. Probably my favorite beer from Unibroue. Unlike several other beers from Unibroue, this one is not overly carbonated which is probably why it is so smooth.

This yeast rules. Great mouthfeel, good color, solid beer. The estery yeast profile really makes this a great beer.

I love this stuff. It’s like a get drunk beer when you’re slightly less of a dirtbag than ghetto dudes who drink OE. Even though I love OE. Anyway... Yeah there’s a lot of choice between the unibroue and they all tend to remain within the same realm of price, but I enjoy Maudite the most out of all of them. It’s DELICIOUS and INTERESTING without being ABRASIVE which some "good" beer tends to be on principle. You know what I mean? Like a good bear has to have something that’s a bit "TOO" much to be considered good? Horsefeathers! I’ve only tried pouring this out of the bottle once, and it looked like when you try to make your own iced tea out of tea you brew then refrigerate too quickly. It’s all cloudy and translucent, and call me crazy but it seemed to taste better out of the bottle anyway. Keep it in the bottle guys, it works! But I digress. I love this beer. It’s spicy and fruity and delicious. Better still, it’s GREAT beer at a GREAT price. Buy 3! Get drunk! Be classy!

Great yeasty aroma and an awesome mahogany color. Spicy, almost rum-like taste that finishes quickly. It’s a bit of a surprise how refreshing this is.

12 oz bottle. Body is dark brown with stuff floating around. Aroma is malt and yeast. Taste is pretty good, malt and yeast as well, maybe? Very good.

I bought this as a single bottle in a local store. I thought it was very good canadian beer. I enjoy a good Ale and I thought this was great.

Another fantastic Unibroue beer. This is probably my favorite of the Unibroue’s because of the wonderful mouthfeel and pleasant palate that comes after every sip. The 8% alcohol is an added treat in that you get a very "heady" buzz after 1 or 2 beers. One of my top 5!
