Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Amber brown with persistant rocky head. Very unusual aroma of gooseberries and rhubarb. Yeast and spice in there, too. Good mouthfeel, flavour sweetish. Finishes soft and spicy. Very good beer.

Pours hazy dirty orange, with a big dirty cream orange head. Nice fruit and spice aroma, yeasty.. Such a pleasure to drink, so mellow and smooth, with body and some hop bite but never heavy. mmm.... tasty! yummy! You will never see the alcohol slip up behind you, its so well hidden. Man, this is good! Thank you, Unibroue! ....... 3/24/2005.......... rerate ...... its been a long time and a lot of beers since I had this last, but damn! its still freakin awesome! This time in a Duvel glass, and its up to the task.. Its one of my top 5 favorite brews of all time.. Beautiful, delicious, and kick ass! a single 12 oz bottle is not enough, gotta have another...

Good beer!, it has a refreshing flavor, although it is incredibly strong!. Orange and it has a fruit flavor, but some say it has a wood flavor. I really liked it.

A nice strong Belgian style Brownish in color. Pours well in a snifter. Definite hints of spice and apricots. One of the best beers to come out of Canada in quite some time.

Pour is a nubilous amber to copper color, the head behemothic in size and creamy in its consistency, the lace thick glutinous sheets that seal themselves to the glass. Aroma of ripe plums, sweet with hints of yeast and malt, quite pleasant to senses. Start is sweet, the top middling in mouth feel, the finish tart, the carbonation biting and the hops masterful in their spicy presence, dry somewhat alcohol bitter aftertaste lingers on. It is hard for me to say if I like La Fin Du Monde or Maudite better, guess it’s a tie and I will have to sample a few dozen more times to break that tie? Oh what about Trois Pistoles? A three way tie what a shame.

Much better than La Fin du Monde. This beer definitely goes down easier and has a wonderful flavor. This beer also look very nice.

Very tasty, except for the bloating effect. Be sure not to drink it too cold, or you won’t detect the flavors.
