Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

A dark mahogany stain with a lifting aroma. A very warming beer to have on a cold night. Top class.

Bottle best before 3-25-07. Dirty muddy brown with 1 finger off white head. Huge dark fruit aroma, (prune/fig), hints of banana, very yeasty with faint alcohol in the background. Flavor again very yeasty with tons of fruit, mostly prune and banana, faint spice towards the finish. Great smooth/oily mouthfeel. Probably the smoothest Unibroue I’ve had, maybe the age has mellowed the carbonation a bit. Well done.

Brassy-brown cloudy color, big rich head, aroma of sweet orchard fruit and yeast. Lovely palate, full and rich, golden raisins and rich bread with layers of spice and ripe orchard fruit, smooth and complex, a beautiful experience.

12oz 4pack. pours dark amber with nice tan head. hoppy yeasty smells, rich tasting head, malty body. not too thick mouthfeel but very flavorful. like a lighter but maltier version of the chambly noir

Pours a murky brown, with a rocky, off-white head, which dissipated slowly. The aroma is a bit sour, like other Belgian Strong Ales I’ve tried. The flavor is fruity, with hints of pear, a bit of alcohol, and just a hint of bitterness in the finish. Another excellent offering from Unibroue!
