Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Very drinkable beer. Orange and translusent. Large head that quickly dissapates. Fruity (banana) aroma, with yeast, clove, and alcohol. Sweet flavor. Maybe my favorite of the Unibroue line. Sweet finish. Good Beer.

Cloudy, leather colored body with a thick persistent tan head. Lots of lacing. Lots of yeast and diacetyl in the nose. Who put the banana in my beer ;o) Fruit and yeast dominate the flavor. I know there’s raisin and banana in there along with the yeast. Complex. Hard to identify everything that was there. Smooth and drinkable. Slight carbonation but you don’t notice it in your mouth. Alcohol is hidden well.

Cloudy light copper with a white head. Body of the beer looks almost like a hard cider. Nose more of fruit than of beer. Taste is banana, yeast, melon; the apples that I remembered from an earlier tasting are no longer there. Finish with a little hop, a little pepper, a little clove. I have to assume this is a wheat beer, but it is more in the style of an Aventinus then a Belgian, and I love it. More my style than the more Belgian Fin du Monde from Unibroue. A little bit bubbly, pleasant but less mouth filling as a result. Great beer.

One of my favorites growing up in Quebec. Strong flavour and gets the whole party drunk on minimal consumption. Lovely spice and citrus flavours.

The demon on the bottle may lead you to think that this beer is hardcore satanic and goth blood vampireish shit, but the truth is, it smells like bananas, like fuckin fruit man, can you believe that? dark and highly carbonated by the looks of it, citrus notes, orange rind, intense flavor, explosion of hop bitters and canoe paddleing demon sweat, this beer is as edgy as Joey Gladstone's stand up act, so buckle up!

Aroma of yeast, spice and and a touch of fruit. Pours a cloudy mahongany with a quickly diminishing pink head. Flavor is wonderfully balanced for the style, with a pleasant sweetness to counteract the "belgan-ness" of the ale. Finishes very smotth, with a lingering sweetness. My favorite unibroue.

Hzzy red color. Smooth and creamy. Caramel, bananas, fruit. Not too heavy, leaves a little spiciness aftertaste. Goes down well.
