Commercial Description:
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

Dark cloudy amber, with a sweet, fruity nose. Fruit flavor mainly grape. I really liked this beer. I will definitely buy it again.

Pours great, tastes great. If the ’damned’ were to truly drink this beer, i’d be envious. excellent medium flavor, but leaves a strange sticky feeling at the back of the tongue, it’s only downside.

Mellow-smooth palate, light aroma and sweet apple-citrus flavor. A fizzy, delicious treat.

333 ml. Medium amber brown. Pours an inviting huge frothy white mouse head. Effervescent carbonation. Rich aroma, malty, bready and toast backed by spicy cloves and just a hint of earthy herbal spice from noble hops. Smooth malty sweetness up front just barely balanced by hop bitterness. Balance is to the sweet side but is not at all cloying. Alcohol warmth in the nose and mouth but only after the swallow. Very subtle in this regard for an 8.0% beer - you could easily drink a lot of this before you realized how far gone you were! Some cloves in flavour but very clean. Be careful not to pour the last bit of the bottle - the yeast bite from the conditioning yeast is a bit too sharp and mars the overall beer. Don’t be greedy - there is so much deliciousf beer power in this bottle that you don’t need every last drop!

12 oz bottle pours a cloudy red amber with a medium frothy white head. Aroma of yeast, sweet malt and some spices. This beer has a very nice body. Sweetness of fruit, honey or toffee come through on the taste with a certain spiciness toward the end. A very nice ale with a sneaky amount of alcohol.

Hzzy red color. Smooth and creamy. Caramel, bananas, fruit. Not too heavy, leaves a little spiciness aftertaste. Goes down well.

Bottled. Hazy grey/orange appearance. Big tidbitty aroma with citrusy notes along with dried fruits and dough. Smooth malty with tidbits, dried fruits, prune, banana and apricot to name a few.
