Boutip (1815), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jul 9, 2008 Bottle: Poured a light golden yellow color ale with a large pure white foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma consists of Unibroue typical spicy yeast with some distinguishable sweet Belgian malt. Taste is a mix between some sweet Belgian malt with some spicy yeast notes. Full body with great carbonation and no discernable alcohol. It really reminded me of a less sweet Don de Dieu which is way too sweet to begin with.
blipp (818), Grand Island, New York, USA Oct 10, 2008 Bottle. Pours gold with a white head. The aroma is fruity lemon and banana with light spice undertones. The spices are more pronounced in the flavor, with clove, nutmeg, and banana. Very good. MAP (895), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Oct 9, 2008 Nice to see silk-screened labels on the Unibroue bottles. This one pours a hazy yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is a musty barn (minus the manure) grassy and yeast smell. Flavor carries the grassy flavor over well with a slight lemony sweetness. Palate is very smooth, except for a little crispness at first. This is extremely drinkable with a pleasant aftertaste that leaves some light citrus flavors on your lips. PilsnerPeter (1477), Flushing, New York, USA Oct 9, 2008 Bottle: Pours an effervescent hazy yellowish golden with a thick pillowy white head. The nose is wheaty, with mild biscuit notes/doughy yeast hints, coriander, and some Belgian phenolics giving just a touch of bubblegum (but not too sweet). Has a nice pillowy palate. The flavor has some tart-ish wheat notes upfront, with a light sweet bubblegum note in the back. Very yeasty with notes of dough, to drier Belgian phenols and spicier hints; a touch of pepper. Has a dryish aroma, but the flavor has that tad of bubblegum which bothers me slightly. Very yeasty, and not complex, but it’s still a tasty Belgian style ale. gearbike (373), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA Oct 8, 2008 750 ml bottle. An off yellow color with a small white lace. Hoppy in floral, spicy, and carbonation not any bitter hops. Very effervescence. Would never detect the alcohol content until it hits you. Tmoney99 (3636), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 8, 2008 Bottle shared by shigadeyo. Poured hazy orange color with medium off-white frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium citrus and yeasty aroma. Medium body with a thin sticky texture. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish with a small alcohol burn of moderate duration. Solid brew.
