rating from cold. Supposed to be heated up??? Anyway, tart/sour cherries and spice in the aroma. Taste is very sweet with cherries and spices. Medium to full body with no apparent carbonation. Finishes tart.

Drank on June 24, 2007. The aroma was cherry! There was virtually no head, no lacing and the body was hazy and red in color. The initial flavor was sweet and the finish was sweet and then sour. The finish was average. The body was light, the texture was syrupy and the carbonationsoft.

Purchased at Gomers of Kansas. Poured a mahogony color with no head. Very cherry/spice aroma, almost smells like a fruit wine. Chilled: Very sweet with a nice cherry taste. There is some apple and cinnamon as well. This reminds me of a German winter gluh wine. Warm: became frothy when heated. Aroma was a little more spicy. The taste is like a warm cider with some nutmeg and cinnamon with a lot less cherry. Definately like a gluh wine. Pretty good both ways.

Dark red, no head. Aroma of cinnamon, honey, nutmeg, and cherries. Flavor is much the same cherries but not really sour or tart just flavor, vanilla, cinnamon, and honey. Cloying sweetness and the flavors really shine at room temp. A little too spicy, honey is too cloying and this just doesn’t do it for me.

TASTED ROOM TEMP: Red-orange with no head / Cherry and spice nose / Bright cherry flavor with undertones of sage, apple, vanilla and cloves / Good finish. Like a mild kriek.

$11 bottle at Holiday Wine Cellar. I’ve resisted buying this for a while, and this I thought what the hell. I served this coldish, I drink a lot of fruit beer and cold works for me. As soon as I opened it and smelled the cinnamonI got a little worried. The nose is full of cherries and cinnamon. The pour is a translucent reddish orange with a pink ring head. The taste is full of cherries and a bit too much spice in my opinion, maybe this is where the heat comes in. Not very sour. Overall somewhat disappointed after the hype some people give this beer, but overall I am usually disappointed by Unibroue. following bendo’s review i thought why not nuke it and try it warm and it tastes better warm but the overall experience suffers.

375ml bottle. Served at room temperature, the supposed method for beer enthusiasts. Pours with almost no head or effervescence and a deep reddish orange color. Strong sour fruit smell with slight cinnamon notes. Taste is much gentler, initially of cherries and fruit giving way to a lingering finish of earthy tones and hints of spice. Definitely could see the appeal in serving it warmed up to bring out the spicier notes.

(750mL bottle:) Pours a red color, a little cloudy, no head. Aroma of extremely sour cherries, like a geuze. Flat taste, cherries, sweet sour taste. Not a strong taste, not syrupy. Too flat. I just saw that this is supposed to be drunk hot, whoops! I hope to get some more and try it hot and re-rate it soon.
