I had this beer cold, not warm as recommended because I cannot drink warm or hot beer. Very sweet taste of fruit with some spices.

This is an amazing beer. I drank this after warming it briefly in the microwaved as was recommended on the label. As the name translates, this beer is really, "something". The aroma is spicy with hints of apple and spice. Reminds me of a slowly mulled cider or wine. Appearance is a dark, clear red. No cloudiness. The color is akin to cranberry juice. Flavour is increadible. This is really one to savour and sip slowly. The alcohol is present more in the aroma than the taste. The cherries are definately the dominating flavour adding a sweet, yet tart dynamic to this brew. There is absolutely NO carbonation in my example. The spiciness is welcomed as it adds a warming, comforting flavour. mmmmm, yummy. With no carbonation, this beer is pretty dull on the tongue in terms of pure feeling. No prickliness. However, the taste lingers on the tongue well after you have swallowed. The sweetness is detected on the sides with the tartness at the back. Great combonation. Overall, If I were giving this a blind taste test, I would have a hard time identifying it as beer. It retains a slight yeast flavour yet is mostly dominated with spicy and fruity notes. The alcohol is well hidden. This is definately a comfort beer. Cheers!

Served chilled. This kind of reminds me of mulled cider. this is a very unique beverage. I would like to try it warm next time.

Bottle, 2002 Vintage - points for the hot version.

Cold Clear red body with an orange-pink shine coming trough. No head. Aroma of sweet cherries, sherry, spices, ... Lightly sweet, lightly bitter initial flavour. Lightly sour, moderately bitter finish. Very well balanced - somewhat sharp, but I like it. High viscosity, like cognac - ’sticky’. Very nice and well balanced fruity flavour. Points: 7/3/8/4/15

Hot Red clear body. No head. Nose of fruit (cherries) and spices (vanilla, clove). Lightly sweet, moderately bitter initial flavour. Lightly sour, lightly bitter finish. The sharpness from the cold version disappeared. Resembles a (good) gluhwein. Points: 7/3/7/3/14

2002 Vintage. Cold: Perhaps it is the Aussie in me that baulked at trying this as advised. So I popped the cork at a cool but not cold temperature and immediately was assaulted by the sound of nothing. Not even a slight hiss. Oh well that could be the fault of the cooling process or perhaps the age of the bottle. The previous comments by fellow raters suggested that I shouldn’t become too paranoid yet however. There is a fine amber/ruby colour with only a scant ring of bubble even though I bounced this into the glass the same way Hookesy was ejected from the St Kilda pub. The nose is slightly musty with the cherry certainly coming through. This has a good vinous finish akin to a soft fortified wine, but I feel more is to come with part two when en caliente (I know this isn’t French but I am in Chile OK?). Warm: Looks like a port in the glass now and the aroma is still that combination of must and cherry. At a higher temperature it is clearly more cherry flavoured in character but I really can’t say it is a really good bee, or anything.

2002 vintage. ) This beer offers an acidic cherry aroma. It is a cloudy amber colored solution with only a trace of a head and lacing. This beer produces a very sweet cherry taste that is infused with the flavors of cinnamon and vanilla. The cinnamon comes in with force at the finish. The lingering aftertaste of cherries, vanilla, and cinnamon sticks around for a while to remind the mouth of what it just tasted. There is a mild acidic texture to this beer.

Amost no carbonation, a potent cherry aroma like cherry dessert sauce, almost no head, I wondered why this was called a beer. I drank it warm (first tim I’ve ever drunk warm beer). As a dessert beer, it is excellent.
