Commercial Description:
Beautiful orangey-amber colour, with a generous head. Very effervescent. Notes of citrus, spices, caramel in the nose. Very complex. Sometimes vanilla. Full bodied and complex, sweet, followed by and explosion of flavours. Clearly the best.

750 ml. bottle (2009) in a Chimay goblet; pours a pretty orange w/ a thick white head that diminishes into a steady layer of white bubbles; aroma is extremely fruity (apricots, peaches, other citrus fruits) w/ yeast underpinning it. I would have expected darker fruits, but its interesting profile made for a refreshing summer drink; flavor is more of the same, albeit richer in plums and yeast; medium bodied. A poor man’s Chimay? Quaffable.

Aroma of sweet caramel, spice, and fruits. Poured a dark amber/brown color. Tasted very unique with action packed notes of spice, vanilla, tangerine, and many other flavors. All in all, this is a recommended superb brew that should be acquired and thoroughly enjoyed.

Pours a dark peach color. Nice creamy white head that starts about a finger and a half and rests as a 1/4" layer with minimal lacing. Smells of toffee malted bananas. Very sweet and malty. Slight floral notes. Tastes of malted bananas. (Surprise!) Slight floral and citrus flavors. A touch of honey. Feels wonderfully smooth and creamy. Lots of tiny little bubbles dancing on your tongue and gums. Overall, nice and light. Not too rich. Very drinkable.

Bottle from Arena Liquors in Columbia, Missouri. Pours a cloudy dark orange color with a medium off-white head that vanishes in a couple minutes. Aroma of dark fruit (fig/plum), yeast, caramel, brown sugar, alcohol, raisin bread, and earthy notes. Equally complex flavor but could use more discipline and balance. Still very smooth and easy to drink for the style. Very good, though not my favorite from Unibroue, even in this style.

In short: An oddly different yeasty belgian golden ale. Complex and highly drinkable.
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed a few months after purchase. Probably 6+ months after bottling
The look: Cloudy dark orange body topped by a large off-white head with medium retention
In long: The strong nose has plenty of fruity yeast esters as well as a smokiness that I’d describe as burnt front lawn grass. Taste has a lot of things going on, halfway between complex and unfocussed. Apricots, bananas, front lawn grass, cookies, cake dough, light but complex spiciness, nougat, front lawn grass, lots of bread, light butterscotch and a little wilderness sensation (almost Saison-ish)that I’ve never found in any other Unibroue. I could go on and on, this is a complex beer. I heard that Unibroue stopped brewing Seigneuriale in December 2008. Will most likely soon be retired on ratebeer. I hate to be the one to bring you this bad news, but while I’m at it maybe I should also tell you that you most likely have less than fifty years to live.

Pours milky dark amber with a 3 finger, creamy, beige-yellow head that has great retention. Aroma is overripe yellow and red apples, big and sweet floral notes, mild toffee, nutty nougate, some light hay and an odd note that burns my sinuses a little if I inhale too quickly, black pepper like, interesting. Flavor is light caramel, dried skin on apple slices, sweet bread spices, orange julius and crusty baguette. Pineapple upside-down cake and spicy black pepper in the finish (it really seems like this is brewed with peppercorns), along with apple skins and a little honey. Palate is medium bodied, lightly carbonated syrupy on the palate and a little sticky on the lips. Overall this is another solid offering from Unibrou, the spicy sweet character makes it something that I think woud be great with alot of different foods, waterfowl and pork especially.

750ml Bottle. Dark golden amber pour with a big, lasting white head. Nose has strong notes of honey, ginger, clove and fresh baked bread as does the flavour although I taste a bit of cinnamon as well. Before trying this I always preferred the dark Unibroue beers but now I’m not so sure. Really good stuff.

I got a bottle of this while visiting Chicago but don’t remember much beyond the numbers unfortunately!
