Jun 28, 2009 Bottle. Pours deep brown black with moderate brown head. Aroma is molasses, raisins, prunes, maybe dark cherries. Flavor is rich and sweet with molasses and dark fruits but not at all overpowering or cloying. Touch of effervescence in slightly chewy palate. Pleasant sweet aftertaste with a touch of bitterness. Overall, a superb Belgian style. As with all of the Unibroue I have tried, it is superb.

Jun 28, 2009 12 oz bottle poured into a clear pint glass. Pours a darker brown shade, but not black, with about two fingers of thick beige head. Nose is Belgian yeast, alcohol, and something lightly sweet, perhaps sour apple. Taste is Belgian yeast, sweet fruit, and a slight tart/sour characteristic. I was surprised at the carbonation in this one, almost a champagne spritz. Not special in any category, but definitely an enjoyable brew.

Jun 26, 2009 A dark almost purple beer. Very thick and sweet, roasted malt and plums. A very savoury beer to keep you warm in the cold Canadian winters!

Jun 25, 2009 Aromas of dried cranberries, yeast, plum, and fig. Pours a dark amber, with off-white head; yeast flecks in suspension. Medium sweet, lightly sour, and lightly bitter flavors. Thick feel, medium bodied, lightly carbonated. Sweet and sour finish leaves one wanting more.

Jun 25, 2009 750ml cork in cage that has been sitting in my cellar for just over a year. Fizzy pour with spritzy light brown bubbles that actually laced pretty well. Appearance is like dark molassas with a bit of brown at the edges. Impressive aroma with tons of raisin, a bit of yeast and some vanilla notes. Flavor is similar, but with more dark candied fruits. Plums, figs, raisins and dark cherries are all present with a bit of caramel. Palate is plush, overly ripe and smooth. Definitely has a vintage character to it. Finish is dry and slightly tart. Really well done and by far my favorite offering from Unibroue.

does not count  Jun 24, 2009 I love Unibroue. About 10 years ago I was introduced to their beers and I fell in love. Not like a mother loves her child...it’s much more than this. At first they were not so easy to find but through the years they have been easier to locate. I was surprise to find them in our local Publix grocery store!

Jun 22, 2009 Bottle. Pours a rich reddish brown with an off-white head. Nose is massively concentrated, with loads of fruit, a vinous character, coffee, chocolate, sour apple, plum, and a whiff of alcohol. Palate is soft but rich, builds in the mouth as it rolls over the tongue. Roasty, rich, very fruity, loads of dark fruit, cherries, banana, wit caramel, nuts, and a very wine-like finish. One of Unibroue’s very best.
