Commercial Description:
Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

pours a deep dark brown, almost black color that is completely opaque with only the slightest bit of mahogany color in the edges when held to a light source. Massive 3 finger frothy dark tan head with excellent retention, only slowly fading to a lasting cap that leaves chunks of soapy lacing in it’s wake. Dark malty aroma with a lot of estery dark fruit and peppery spice. Silky chocolate and caramel malt as well as some toffee notes along with hints of raisin, plum, fig, sour dark cherries and fig. Carbonated up front with some smooth roasted malt, sweet dark fruit, candy sugar body with a dry and bitter yet sweet roasted finish. Dangerously quaffable with the high ABV being very well masked. Only a very slight hint of alcohol warmth. Nice chocolate malt flavor that is roasty, but not too much so. Lots of estery dark fruit notes, especially raisin, fig, plum and sour dark cherry along with sweet candy sugar notes. Very well balanced. Highly recommended!

Extremely dark red/brown. Like usual the head on this brew disappears quickly into a small off-white ring. The smell is what I would expect from a Belgian Ale: roasted malts, brown sugar, molasses. The taste is quite pleasant as well and I can pick out notes of roasted malt, plum, sugar, and alcohol.

Bottle. I think you sons of bitches are crazy in your description of the flavor. Pours a brown color with a nice fluffy tan head. Aromas of sage, celery, grass, and autumnal spices. Fruit? Port? What kind of ports have you had to drink? There is a nominal fruitiness, it is predominated by a vegetable aroma. Medium bodied. Heavy alcohol finish.

33cl at Alvar, Turku. Murky dark brown, small fading light beige head. Huge vinous, sweet raspberry jammy nose, old strawberries with pancakes, hint of sourness, very jammy. Flavor has hints of sourness, same old strawberry, plum, dark sugars, hints of clove in the minerally and dull finish. Thin bodied, neutral carbonation. Surprisingly hollow brew overall, simple berryish character.

Bottle. Deep mahogany pour with very carbonated off-white head. Smells of cinnamon, pepper, plums. Taste is the same...deep, dark, spicy and fruity. Slightly creamy, slightly fizzy on the palate. A great balance.

My first beer at the Publik House ever. Served in a tres pistoles glass. A very dark color with just a thin film of head. Was not able to really look much into the color because of the low lighting of this bar. The smell was a great tart fruit, mostly reminding me of green apples. taste gave me some malt and spice but most enjoyable thing from unibroue is their sharp texture and almost stinging carbonation. Very much enjoyed.

Bottle. Pours near-black with a thin head. Aroma is quite malty, and slightly spicy. Flavor is a little malty, and very sweet. Slightly spicy as well. Definitely very interesting and unique.

Aroma of dried fruit and caramel as well as a bit of alcohol. Huge, slowly fading head. ABV is well hidden but the finish is quite alcoholic.
