puggy211 (576), cordova, Tennessee, USA Sep 13, 2008 Dark brown, ok head. Aroma is fruity and from licorice. Floral flavor with fruity notes. Somewhat bitter in the finish. I could not see what is so great wit this beer. drjay44 (757), Salida, Colorado, USA Sep 11, 2008 750 ml. bottle. Pours an overly exhuberant head which deflates into nice tight tannish head, wonderful dark brown, red toned color, good lacing....nose very complex, with fruits, cherry and plum dominating, some malts, bit of bread....tastes initially of fruit, again plum and cherry, then sweet malt, finally hops come in with a moderate bitterness....reasonably heavy mouth feel, but ,again, rather highly carbonated. Not nearly heavy as a good port. gerardoluna (195), Mexico Sep 10, 2008 [Eyes] Excelent Dark deep red brown color and thin but creamy head.
[Nose]Cereal, caramel and hop.
[Mouth] Nice sweet malt characters, excelent body and good carbonation. This beer has one of the best after flavour that
I´ve tryed. alexkeil (20), New York, USA Sep 9, 2008 A bit too much carbonation than I would prefer for this type of beer, starts with sweet taste of fruits and finishes with a bitter balance of chocolate and clove - an enjoyable drink for one glass after dinner...too rich for anything more than one Ryoma (1), Santiago, Chile does not count Sep 9, 2008 Pours very dark, With a full white head,
smells of chocolate, caramel, and dried fruits.
palates intense, reminds of fruits, and strong alchol probably the best belgian ale, brewed outside of belgium. Grossecaisse (108), France Sep 6, 2008 It seems like coconut taste...
A bit strong but not so heavy
A bit sugared
nbutler11 (729), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 6, 2008 Pours like a Coke from the bottle, dark amber with an obnoxious tan fizzy head of foam. Smells of anise and malts with additional notes of caramel and milk cocoa in the flavor. Frothy mouthfeel, but definitely improves as it warms. Floback (333), Naples, Florida, USA Sep 4, 2008 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine. Pours an amber/black body with a large off-white head. Smells are dark and cloying with hints of chocolate malts and dark fruits. Flavors are nutty and wood chip-like, but also reminiscent of an Abbey Tripel or Quad with notes of banana, bubblegum, and clove. High carbonation and a full body seem out of balance here. This has a chewy mouthfeel and poorly masked ABV. Not bad, but definitely not my favorite from Unibroue.
