Ljunkan (379), Karlstad, Sweden Apr 30, 2008 Updated: Jan 13, 200933 cl bottle from Systembolaget. Very dark beer with a nice head which remains until the beer is finished. It smells fruity and a bit yeasty. Notes of spices. Very interesting! You definitely want to taste it. Flavour is beutiful of dark fruits and berries, although the liquorice is what distinguishing the beer most. The spiceness reminds a litte of a stronger wheat beer like the weizen bock Aventinus surprisingly enough. Great! mikey (336), farmington, Utah, USA Apr 30, 2008 Poured a brown laquor color with a nice frothy head. The nose was intence with molasses, chocolate, raisins, figs and clove. The taste started very vinous like port combined with chocolate, molasses and raisins. There was a slight roasty aftertaste that merges well with the hops for a slight burnt cider tatse. I’m quite impressed with this one. Excellent! BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Apr 29, 2008 Extremely good tripel style ale from our friends in Canada. Flavors were a delicious blend of dark fruits, spice, and malt. Great strength and finish. crowderm (275), Recklinghausen, Germany Apr 29, 2008 Pours a nice dark ruby/maroon with a pretty thin off-white head. The aroma is of sweet and sour fruits, lots of grape and berries I would say, with a bit of spice in there. The flavor continues to impress with tons of rich fruit flavors coming through, grapes and berries again. I can’t even taste the alcohol. The finish is nice and dry. The mouthfeel is pretty syrupy, but is balance out nicely by the carbonation. Very solid beer overall, I would drink this one any day of the week. hillfiiiiire (283), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Apr 29, 2008 Pours a ruby like hue with a head that stays just around the rim of the glass. It smells like spicy fruits and yeast, but not all that doughy. Spiciness prevails on the tongue with plenty of rich, sweet malts coming through. It finishes dry. It’s very bubbly and light on the palate. A really well done brew. Ported (67), Ontario, Canada Apr 28, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown with tan head. Yeast, bread, spices, as well as some mild berries and port. Slightly syrupy. Lingering after taste. Good, but not great - I prefer La Maudite. Blackdogrmh (1), Denton, Texas, USA does not count Apr 24, 2008 It is a good brew but it has fell short like the other Unibroue products have had . I have only had Maudiet and La Fin so far this is the best Unibroue product I have had, but in my opinion There products are more about the hype of the beer rather than the actual quality of the beer. lovemyipas (420), sw burbs, Illinois, USA Apr 21, 2008 pours a dark burnt caramel color with a nice two finger fluffy light brown head. aroma is yeast and some hops with dark fruits, a little bread, and a little citrus. has a medium body with descent lacing and good carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma but stronger. it has a port wine finish and aftertaste and all together not bad i guess. i would take a couple of the other unibroue beers over this one though.
