Unibroue Trois Pistoles

A hazy deep red beer with nice brown head. The aroma is very sweet with notes of prunes, raisins, wood, oranges, yeast, and ginger. The flavor is also very sweet - a little like eating English Licorice Allsorts - with notes of oranges, licorice, prunes, wood, cinnamon, and even coconut.

(Bottle 34,1 cl) Unclear brownish with a thick, creamy, beige head leaving a nice lacework in my glass. Vinous, port-like aroma with very evident alcohol. Lovely, full body with plenty of roasted malt. Quite fruity notes - dried fruits as raisins, dates and prunes - and also overripe plums and apricots. The flavour is sweetish but never cloying. The alcohol is warming but never overpowering. Has to be one of the best Trappist-style beers produced outside of Belgium. 281205

Dark nut brown. Dry bitter and lively. Very complex & tasty!

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy deep brown with a slowly collapsing and light tan head. Mild spiced and yeasty aroma. Mild roasted malt flavour with a light sweetness. Followed by a fruity flavour and mixed with a light yeast notes. Light fruity flavour into the finish.

I have to say I think this is the best beer that Unibroue makes. What a rich malty and fruity flavor. Deep and rich, a nice beer to relax to at the end of the day.

Bottled. Dark reddish brown colour with a nice creamy off-white head. Malts, dry dark fruits, slight yeast and caramel in the aroma. The flavour is very full, dry dark fruits, caramel malts, vanilla, slight roasted twist along with berries and yeast. Also some spices in it. Very full with lots of stuff, yet wellbalanced and pleasant in any way.

Bottle. Nice malty, sweet aroma. Cloudy dark brown colour. Strong, sweet flavour of dried fruit. Grape aftertaste.

Bottled. Hazy brown coloured with a beige head. Fruity and spicy aroma. Spicy and fruity flavour with notes of dried apricots and celery.
