Aromas of yeast, dough and berries. Tastes like a chewy fruitcake with hints of blackcurrant, cherry and a faint licorice note. Excellent mouth coating finish that never gets cloying. Sugary yeasty fruity aroma with bready soft metal notes and a touch of herbal licorice. Full, sweet herbal licorice taste with bready, yeasty notes. Somewhat earthy. Chocolatey notes. Strong alcohol heat. Dry brown sugar aftertaste. This is really good, especially as it warms up. (0.33l bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger.) SledgeJr (2972), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 5, 2005 In the 750 ml bottle. Pours dark, real dark. Pillowy white head. Incredible fruity wine-like aroma. I really liked this. I’m surprised that the alcohol is so high, as the balance hides the fact. My guess was that it was an Abbey ale due to the smoothness. This was truly one of the best Unibroue ales that I’ve tried. JK (2962), Richfield, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Oct 1, 2005 This bottle was aged for two years. A dark brown beer with a small head. Still. Pleasant fruity aroma. Not really similar to port wine, not even a vinous aspect at all really. It is sweet, heavy, and malty however. Full bodied and tasty.
