Flavors were plum, fig, rum, clove, and towards the end big time chocolate. This was complex and I will seek it out again. eaglefan538 (2403), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 2, 2006 This poured beautifully. The head was pillowy tan and sat pretty the entire drink. The color was dark brown to black (somewhat stout-like). Richer than a dubel (but not to the level of a quad), this had a mouthfeel that was almost creamy. Aroma and flavor were spicey and fruity, which I didn’t find to be all that distinguished from many of the Belgian ales out there (which isn’t a bad thing). Boutip (2399), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

Tha alcohol was not too prevalent and the taste was sweet and fruity. Usual malt taste from Unibroue. Very nice brew overall. Vac (2394), San Diego, California, USA

Maybe it was the esters combined with some of the other yeasty flavors but it was interesting. Smells like a good belgian should. Not as spicy as some, but the estery fruitiness is good. Having trouble with some of the spicier belgians, this is a good beer to me. It had less of the fuzzy mouthfeel that a lot of Belgians have. I think that’s a good thing as some feel too fuzzy. badlizard (2386), Berkeley, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 2, 2007 Hazy dark brown with big fluffy, short lized white head. Aroma of apple, pear, cherry, and caramel. Tastes of dark malt and grapes transitioning to a brief bitter dark chocolate taste and finishing with a sweet, yeasty taste. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 10, 2005 (BJCP Class) Dark copper brown color with a great strong Carmel aroma. Rich in malt semi fruitiness lingers in the flavor and aroma. Strong in alcohol. A good peppery flavor in the first and last of the beer. Slight clove feel also in the flavor. Damn strong beer. Semi dry strong aftertaste which feels very sweet. Beerlando (2353), Orlando, Florida, USA

Moderate off-white head that quickly fades. Aromas are malty with a hint of dark cherries. Flavors follow along those same lines. Palate is very unique. There is a welcoming fizz on the tongue, with a clean finish. Very nice offerring. This might be my favorite from Unibroue. Strong recommendation.
