Slightly sweet flavour that lingers on the palate. Dark purple sediment in the bottom of the glass. No sign of the alcohol other then the spin in my head. drewbeerme (2305), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 4, 2007 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. Dark brown beer with a huge beige head. Very fine and complex aroma with vinous notes, also notes of oak, spices, cocoa, red berries and dark fruits, hints of barnyard and tobacco. The flavour is sweet, vinous and fruity, quite smooth for 9% ABV beer. Moderate hops. Many of the elements of the aroma stay with you through the flavour and aftertaste. An excellent beer! There are so many subtle fruity & spicey flavors that it was like tasting a fine wine. Don’t miss this one. alexanderj (2280), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 25, 2007 Pours a dark brown, with mediumish head. Aroma was great; yeast, bubblegum, dark fruit, brown sugar. Pretty good palate with some fizziness in the end (initially) and some throat warming. A sipper for sure. Flavor was similar to the aroma; fairly complex with dark malt, some caramel, candy sugar, some pepper. Nekronos (2265), Xalapa, Mexico
