| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 25, 2004 Dark garnet pour. Thich frothy off white head that stays around for awhile. Nose is very dusty (as in it smells like old books dusty). Flavor is caramel, raisin, and prune with a very light alcohol tinge. It is remarkedly sweet. There is an amazing flavor of dried fruit: dried cherry, plum, grape (yes, prunes and raisins). The cherry, prune and raisin flavors come together very, very well. This is one of the sweetest beer I have ever had (and I usualy HATE sweet beers) but damn, this is good. I just can't get over the great flavor of this Ale! The finish is very full, thick, and lingers for awhile. The mouthfell is very unique in that it is very thick at first, then melts away and leaves your mouth feeling like velvet. To be honest, when I bought this beer, I was expecting it to be average, at best. But this may be one of the top 5 brews that I have ever had. Period. If the brewmaster was here with me right now, I'd kiss him. lithy (1800), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 20, 2009 Dark brown with a thin light tan creamy foam. Aroma is some dark sweet malts, some spice and a surprising citrus. Taste is more oranges, lemons, some darker plums and brown sugar then a nutmeg or cinnamon spice finish. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 20, 2004 Reddish-brown body. Minimal head. Nose was like a plum port. Some spice. Inviting. Flavor was full and rich and fruity and satisfying. Very good drink. illinismitty (1800), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 31, 2005 Bottle. Pours tea or coffee brown, with a very thin head. No lacing with my sample. Strong alcohol in the aroma, along with dried fruit and sweet malt in the background. Sweet (but not overpowering), with notes of raisens, plums, and a touch of alcohol. Finish is acidic and sweet, but crisp. Lingers nicely, but not too heavy. I may come back an re rate this, and I am currently developing my palate for Belgian style ales. pilsnerrogge (1790), Finspång, Sweden
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 30, 2002 Brown colour. Head dissipates fast. Wonderful complex aroma! Chocolate, bubblegum, orange peel, cowberries and even a touch of lambic! After all that the flavour is a bit of a disappointment! Sweet and warming, a bit like a young port wine. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 14, 2007 Haven’t had this in an age, but my wife brought home a bottle today. Lovely, dark, lively pour with a substantial head and considerable fruity aroma. Nice and tart, dark fruits blended with a dash of citrus and esters. Malt is there amongst the plum and fig, along with some hops for body and liveliness. Nice and warming, and admirably distinct from some of Unibroue’s other offerings.
