Strong yeasty grape/prune aroma is very pleasant for a belgian. Strong and muted at the same time, if that makes any sense. Flavor is the same with a slight alcohol presence. Full bodied mouthfeel. Very nice brew. MrManning (1652), London, Ontario, Canada

Incredible!
Pours a deep chestnut coloured body with a thick and seemilgly everlasting caramel coloured head. I can already tell this is going to be good! Aromas are fruity...apples come to mind. Taste is of apples, almost like a cider, but with a hint of malty sweetness that compliments the fruit very well. This beer is seems to be like a thick cider. Smooth from start to finish with not a hint of the 9% alcohol. Very well made, and very tasty. Unibroue is certainly consistant when it comes to making incredible beers. Butters (1651), Virginia, USA

Dark ripe fruit aroma with spices like clive, ginger, nutmeg and others. Undertones of dates, plums, pears, cherries, pineapple. Also some yeast, tea, liquorice and sugary malt. Maybe some fudge. Sweet flavour with tones of yeast, spices, sugar and sweet fruits. Sourish notes in both the flavour and in the nose. Medium body. Pretty complex stuff. GG (1646), NorCal, California, USA

An absolutely beautiful pour with an incredible purple/burgandy color. Aroma had notes of plums, raisins, figs, caramel...just really really complex and interesting. Flavor had the same profile as the nose but also had some roastyness and a creamyness that was really impressive. Loved the brew and love the brewery! NachlamSie (1643), Tennessee, USA

The aroma is deep of plums, cloves, and many other vinous notes. There’s a sticky fig sweetness, cinnamon, some dry twigs, and ample complexity.

Had this once again on draught. It’s a very solid take on the style which I often crave and feel comfortable recommending to anyone. It has the moderate dryness and vinous character in a soft presentation like a solid quad with plenty of yeasty, fruity notes with hints of licorice, bread, bubblegum, chocolate, banana, cloves, and more. Very good.

Small bottle. Pours a cloudy, murky brown. The aroma has lots of sweet toffee, molasses, tobacco, and very light spices. This is malt heavy with prickly carbonation. This is more one-dimensional that I remember. Not much in the way of esters is noted. Some very light peat, fruits, and toffee are hinted at. Drinkable enough. I need to visit this again a few more times. wetherel (1636), Encinitas, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 29, 2007 Deep rich brownish red color. First pour into a pint glass (I know) gave an exploding 2" head that wouldn’t die, I had to drink my way through it. Poured the second half of the bottle 4 hours later into a wine glass, with little head. It’s got a faint plastic smell a little similar to Judgement day, Hmmm, I wonder if it is a hint of corriander? no wait, banana, that’s it. The head is thick and creamy, with excellent lacing. The flavor is too light and needs some sweetness, which makes it an excellent beer to pair with food. Should i give it a 16 or 17? Hmmm kiefdog (1628), Tampa, Florida, USA
