Aroma of raisin, plum, cloves, light note of alcohol, and dark brown sugar. Taste is dark and sweet, spicy and fruity, with elements of soda, notes of alcohol. Mouthfeel is lightly heavy with lush carbonation. Delicious beer, though maybe a tad too fizzy and sweet. obxdude10 (1559), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA

Small light tan head that maintains a nice film on top and leaves very nice lacing. Aromas are sweet pitted fruit and grapes and some of that belgian spice. Flavor can’t quite keep up woth the aroma. Those fruity notres don’t come through much, and the belgian flavors are sudued compared to others of the style. Nice smooth feel with mefium to lively carbonation. Pleasant and drinkable with a well hidden ABV, but a bit over rated maybe. MrBunn (1538), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 14, 2006 Musty peat aromas mingle with apple sweetness over a body that is dark brown with a slight reddish coloration. Head is huge... I think at one point I had six inches of foam to one inch of brown liquid, but it dies down leaving some nice lacing. Flavor is interesting... quite sweet with some plum/apple sweetness in the background that occassionally overpowers the grainy-earthy-wood body. Alcoholic content is nicely disguised and doesn’t distract from the flavors, in spite of the massive 9% punch that it packs. Body is a little thinner than I expected, but still nice and pleasantly mild. hellbilly (1532), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 17, 2008 pours a orange shade of woody dark brown with some yeasty clumps at the bottom. fluffy almond colored head cloaks the glass with foam as it slowly retreats. immense yeast aroma is savory at times... spice, wood, very soft camp fire smell, dates, raisins and a touch of alcohol. tastes like an oxidized red apple covered with REAL caramel, cinnamon and lots of yeasty dryness. it’s sweet without being over sweet. it leaves an aftertaste that reminds me of fake sugar. medium to full body with a soft velvety mouth feel... esjaygee (1531), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA

Medium bodied taste of fruit, caramel, and spice. A little tartness in the finish and it hides the alcohol well. Quevillon (1530), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada
