Aroma of clove, cane sugar, a little alcohol. Taste is spicy, and fruity with a smooth finish complemented nicely by a yeasty flavor. Might be the best of Unibroue’s regular lineup. Aroma of malt, some caramelized brown sugar and some plums. Malty sweet flavor with some sugariness, some fruitiness, very subdued roasted notes and yeasty spicy notes. Finish is slightly drier. Highly carbonated mouthfeel. A well made Belgian Strong Ale. jasonp (1513), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA

Taste is complex- wine, roasted malt, dark fruits, spices, cherry. Mouthfeel is very full, round and creamy. Lively carbonation and dry finish. Even though this isn’t my favorite style, this is a great brew. Swalden28 (1510), McKinney, Texas, USA

Pours a Hazy dark ruby brown with frothy Beige head with nice retention. Aroma of raisons or dark fruit, notes of clove. Flavor dark fruit, slight roasted malt, clove, slight bannana, with excellent alcohol spice to compliment. Palate is full, medium carbonation. Nice!!!!! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 8, 2007 330ml bottle, courtesy of the Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam. Pours a chocolate brown, with lively carbonation and a large tan head at first. The aroma is caramel and spices and the flavour is a wonderful mix of berries, fruit, raisins and liquorice. The palate is full and slight creamy and the strength is apparent but held in check. Overall, a cracking Trappist beer. It may not be in the same class as Westvleteren, but few things are. This is excellent beer and I was gutted I only had a single bottle to enjoy! shadey (1500), Rochester, New York, USA

Almost looks like wine but it has a lingering creamy head that is thin but always present. Sweet smell, malty. This would be a good way to transition from a wine drinker to a beer drinker. Very tiny hint of the alcohol. Pretty good. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Dec 31, 2003 Nice brown color with lasting off white head. Classic fruity aroma, of dried fruit that reminds me of many of the great abbey ales. Mix of carmel and frit for flavor. Well balanced and the alcohol is well hidden. Wonderful beer. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 15, 2004 Wonderful dark-brown beer topped with generous caramel brew. Alcohol, roasted sugar and spicy nose that almost smells like black grape. Its awsome flavor is a mix of sugar followed by alcohol, roastiness and, finally, a vigorous bitterness. Very complex and hard-to-categorize beer. A "must" after a good heavy meal.
