| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 16, 2007 Aroma is rich with hints of fruit and a mild roasted scent. Color is a deep almost black amber with very good carbonation and beautiful tight tan head. Taste is sweet and clean. Starting with a medium body that has a much lighter mouth feel then you would expect. It goes down with a creamy feel that leads you into a finish that is a sweet malt flavor with a very mild roasted taste and a nice Belgian yeast fruit flavor. Its not as rich and bold as I was expecting it to be but it is a very tasty brew. Sully (1367), Woolloomooloo, New South Wales, Australia
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 16, 2003 I am pleased to find a Unibroue I like. After a number of them I was beginning to despair. The rich claret like colour is great under the creamy head which dissipates rather quickly. The nose is very fruity with hints of raisins and sultanas, making it comparable to a tokay. The warmth in the mouth is immediate and it is a rich and the flavours of said fruit and aniseed become evident. A real sipping beer that is well suited to a rich pork dish or with some strong and bitey cheese. Allen (1363), Switzerland
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 24, 2008 Updated: Nov 20, 2008Bottled 33cl. It pours a hazy dark brown beer with green!? reflects. Moderately tanned, nicely remaining tall head. Vitamin tablets, oranges and candy in the nose which is accompanied by a milky component. Some fudge and figs showing up too. An excellent aroma. Full bodied. Smooth mouthfeel. Vitamin tablets and exotic fruits in the taste. A hint of incense. A port-like characteristic showing up. Wonderfully spicy. Berries, fudge, lemon peel, coriander, cinnamon and thyme appearing. Wonderful finish with hints of oranges and lemon peel. Some bready hints sneaking in. Deeply complex, unique and enjoyable. jaymobrown (1354), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 22, 2002 Massive thick head. Dark brown suagr color. Don’t see much comparison to a port here. Nice complex nose with an interplay between light tones of fruit with more heavy spices of pepper, caramel, and cinammon. Extremely smooth, the alcohol is barely noticable. Musky dark fruit flavors - raisins, bananas, nuts - dance on the tongue. This is a good Belgian-style ale. Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 2, 2006 My 12 oz bottle was a big-time gusher, foaming all over the table. Once things settled down, it was a deep carmel, almost black in the right light, with a cap of fine tan head. Dry, spicy rye cracker aroma, with grape skins and maple syrup. Flavor is lively and spicy, with toasty bready flavors a little reminicent of fresh cornbread. Substantial sweetness up front, but a bone dry finish, with just a little lingering yeast flavor. A very flavorful and rich beer. My first from Unibroue, and it was a great first impression. Bullit (1353), Glasgow, Scotland

Aroma of dark fruits and slightly toasted malts. Flavour of dark dried fruits, yeast, brown sugar and a hint of chocolate. Alcohol well hidden. Nice sweet-sour aftertaste. Excellent beer. pantanap (1352), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 22, 2008 bottle that has been sitting inside my closet for way too long.... pours a murky dark caramel brown with a one finger soapy off-white head.... aromas of dark fruit, yeast, and sweet malts.... flavors don’t stray too far from the nose other than the fact that it leaves just a slight bitter finish to it but doesn’t detract away from it. a little too carbonated for my taste and which it was a little more smooth and creamy....a decent bsa.
