That said, my first taste came quickly - lips to bottle while I reach for the glass. A bit assertive out of the bottle. What remained poured to a high head with a murky brown color. Scent of sweet lavender. Very smooth feel. The alcohol really comes out in the finish. Flavors of dark cherries, bananas and currents. Slight oak in the dry finish as it warms. jbrus (4895), Delft, Netherlands

Brown color, beige head, fair lace. Sweet that becomes even sweeter towards the finish, light bitter, fruity (dark forrest fruits), chocolat, licorice, sticky and light warming. Medium body. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 20, 2003 Deep hazy mahogany with hints of ruby, an effervecent head with excellent lacing. Aroma is delicious, almost like a dopplebock with notes of apple cider, fig, raisin and cherry. A slight musky hop presence is detectable too. Flavor is sweet and refreshing, dark fruit and bitterness override the palate. Very complex with a nice malty finish, very rich. Tmoney99 (4781), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 24, 2004 Very dark brown with red tints and a small beige head. Aromas are bready, yeast and earthy with some winter fruit. A bit like St Bernadus Pater. Flavours are yeasty with fruit, mild berries and a lack of alcohol considering its strength. Better than the sum of its parts. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
