Commercial Description:
Strong Belgian type ale similar to a Port wine ! Is as dark as can be, mellow in taste with an aroma of ripe fruits. It can be compared to an old porto and is brewed from well roasted malt.

Wow! This one is fantastic... The beer pours with a spicy, yeasty, sweet aroma with a creamy light head. The beer is dark in colour, brown and red. The flavour is... a very smooth fruity sweetness, with a tad of maltiness - lots of different flavours in there that seem to drift in as you sip it. Very mellow, and delicate. This one is one of the very best for certain...

Pours a dark dark brown with a nice head. Aroma has yeast and dark fruits with some nuts in there. The flavor is wonderful... licorice, dark malts, yeast and dates with some hints of chocolate and malts that bleed through. Actually, it tastes like root beer in many ways. This is a great beer... I’ll be drinking this again.

As good as they get in my opinion. Mildly sweet, extremely smooth. Alcohol well hidden. Unibroue’s best brew

"Port wine" indeed. My all time favorite beer. I just which I was richer so I could drink it everyday. eep aroma of dark fruits and sweet malt. Solid flavor of plums, figs and a wine sweetness. Very carbonated. Very good

A very nice strong beer. The flavor is that of grains and nuts with a hint of clove. This one is my favourite.

Best served only slightly below room temperature at 1:45 a.m. in a basement bookstore surrounded by bohemians in silly hats while flirting with a lazy-eyed tarot card reader in a black dress. Comes off overall like a good Belgian Dubbel, with strong port notes. Has a hint of hazelnut flavour comparable to Schloss Eggenberg Samichlaus Bier, only much more mellow and complex, like good jazz music. This is not a beer; it’s a lifestyle choice.

750-ml bottle Marcello’s, Lafayette,LA - Aroma: dried fruit, sweet, alcoholic (esters), caramel (malt), slight medicine (phenols); Appearance: clear, opaque dark brown, tan head, some laces; Flavor: salty, dried fruit, chocolate, (malt), slight alcoholic (esters), bitter (hop); Mouthfeel: moderate to full bodied, high carbonation, alcoholic (no harshness); Overall: let the dark beer warm up to bring out the richness, complex, and balance of malt, yeast , bitter, and alcoholic flavors of the beer with no alcohol harshness.
