It has a complex taste, alcohol warming. It is so good that i will try and make a clone of it. sandoz (7), revere, Massachusetts, USA does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 4, 2008 Got as a gift,at first was thinking wow 9% I’m gonna taste alcohol .Thick foamy head & nice lacing ,Fruity esters throughout,0 alcohol taste,.much better than their Blanche de Chambly.I will buy again next TRIP to the store ShawnMalloy (120), Auburn, Massachusetts, USA

It’s a magnificent Belgian that is near black in color with a lovely abundant off white head. The fruityness is greatly complimented by its roasted caramel malt presence. It’s a Belgian Strong in an almost porter like outfit. DonPablo (11), bellevue, Kentucky, USA

I´ve tryed. FrostBlast (2), Quebec, Canada does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jan 16, 2008 This is my standard drinking beer. I always have at least 1 bottle of it in my fridge. It pours foamy and dark, on the deep brown side, never as dark as Guiness. The aroma is fruit and smoke and malt. Mouth is cloves and fruits, bit of smoke and barley. Alcohol doesn’t make itself felt, even if it’s 9%. The aroma has a rich dried fruit sweetness without being overpowering or cloying.
The flavour is nothing short of spectacular, though it perhaps doesn’t pack quite the same deep flavour as say, Rochefort 10, it is actually better balanced. No single flavour dominates, the bitterness, alcohol, licorice, spices and dried fruit all working together perfectly. Because of this, it is flavourful enough to enjoy as a winter warmer whilst at the same time being suitable to drink in quantity with food. bbarbot (5), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 6, 2008 Several reviewers have remarked on the fruity qualities of this beer, but I think they are a bit overstated - this is not a fruity brew by any stretch, although the references to port are apt (I personally don’t think of good port as being particularly "grapey" - it has a character of its own). Rich, caramelly, malty, and pleasantly roasted; tremendously well-balanced for such a relatively high-ABV brew. This is a classic, cold-weather strong ale. Highly recommended, and one of my favorites both of the genre, and in general. Nice job, Unibroue!
